If the senate can't pass the Food Safety Bill S-510, nothing will pass in the lame duck
session. Teabaggers have called for its defeat. (Looking for the link)

1. I thought that was a "big business" bill? Maybe it should go down?
As a commenter on that page you linked said: "The bill before us is simple. It will make food safer as long as you own a multinational agribusiness. For everyone else it will make food contraband. It will outlaw home gardens. It will criminalize farmers markets. Just you dare try to enforce this law."

6. i doubt it is over reaction.
Remember how Diane Feinstein spent the better part of a week over the summer making punishment for baking marijuana brownies worse than for mere marijuana possession?

Life in this nation, now ruled by Monsanto and the Other Big Agri Firms, is totally weird.

3. If we can't trust the food supply, we can't trust our government for anything.

5. The Tester amendment better be part of it or so-long family farms...

...that's where the healthy food comes from (and always did.)

Jon Tester's amendment exempts small farms selling food within 400 miles of their home from the most difficult-to-comply-with regulations.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FAMILY FARMER.

9. the bill is pro-agribusiness corporatist "regulation", I hope it dies.
All too often "food safety" is used as an excuse to side with agribusiness against small producers.
