Violence or Bad Language?
Which offends you more? I know so many people that are offended by bad language in entertainment, yet they are enthralled by the violence in it. Personally, I hate the violence but the language doesn't bother me unless it is violent language. I wonder if ones aversion reveals anything about their political leanings?

2. Violence. Although it's specific kinds of violence that I will not watch for entertainment.

3. In entertainment, I accept what is necessary to tell the story.

If violence is needed, bring it on. If profanity is necessary to be true to a character, then fuck man, let us be profane. You didn't mention sex, but when necessary to tell a story or reveal character, let sex happen.

I am not offended when the f-bomb explodes in a story. In conversation over coffee, I don't think it is necessary to conjugate every fucking verb. In a story, when somebody gets shot for doing somebody wrong, I accept it. When my neighbor blows her husband away for cheating, or he beats his wife for not bringing his beer fast enough, it is unacceptable. I'd rather not see my neighbors having a go at in in their front yard. If it is part of a story to reveal character to illuminate plot, I'm there.
