NYPD Arrest Peaceful 99ers at Unemployed Workers Rally
A group of 99ers that engaged in a peaceful protest in New York City on Friday, November 12th, were arrested by the New York Police Department. Four people were arrested, during a protest outside, of a New York City unemployment office.

"Economists say one way to grow this economy is by extending unemployment benefits because these workers then plow that money immediately back into the economy," Rep. Carolyn Maloney, a democrat, said to New York Based WABC-Channel 7.

Some of the protesters blocked the street, in an effort to draw attention to the plight of "99ers", a group of up to 6 Million unemployed and/or unemployed job seekers, who have exhausted between 73-99 weeks of unemployment benefits.

A bill that currently sits within the Senate Finance Committee, S-3706- “The Americans Want to Work Act” sponsored by Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), would provide up to 20 additional weeks of supplemental income benefits and offer a $2000 tax credit for businesses to hire the long-term jobless or unemployed.........

1. Idiots.
Haven't they heard? The recession is over!

The chief executives of the largest U.S. public companies enjoyed bigger paydays in their latest fiscal year, as share prices recovered and profits soared amid the country's slow emergence from recession.

CEO Pay on the Rise

Reporter Erin White sits down with Kelsey Hubbard to discuss the results of WSJ's survey of CEO pay, which rose 3% over last year.

The Wall Street Journal Survey of CEO Compensation

CEO Paychecks Climb With Stocks

At these 456 companies, the median pretax value of CEO salaries, bonuses and long-term incentives, such as grants of stock and stock options, rose by 3% to $7.23 million, according to an analysis of their latest proxy filings for The Wall Street Journal by consulting firm Hay Group.

Investors made out well, too, with total shareholder return (based on the change in stock price plus reinvested dividends), coming in at 29%. The companies' total net income doubled from a year earlier to $510.9 billion.

7. The aviators have been called that for many years
That the media was not aware of that does not make it right for them to reuse the name

8. "Them to USE the NAME".....
You are not serious right? 99ers and the link you posted ARE different. One is a entity of a number, the other words. If the group has copyrighted the name, then they should call it out to the media. Otherwise, unemployed job seekers that have exhausted 99 weeks of unemployment are indeed 99ers. Sorry if you don't prefer the term but, it is what it is.

Have a wonderful evening.....:eyes:

9. I am just sticking to precedent
If there was a new dance craze called The Wobble an its adherents were called wobblies, I would make the same objection.
