because they have proposed a lot of that too. Talk that side of it up.

Then go back to calling it the Catfood Commission when you are w/your liberal friends and family.

I am all for a left-right alliance to defeat, not modify or alter, but defeat this BS report.

1. "91% top tax rate during president ike" Bill Maher
Do that, and no need to tax the middle class.

I Like Ike .... was the slogan dad said.

Maher repeats the fact... Yet DU'ers have not echoed it as far as I know.
Listen up, friends.

2. Only problem is, nobody paid 91%
Edited on Fri Nov-12-10 01:23 AM by alanquatermass
Nobody.

Would you? Seriously, I want you to really think about this -- I want you to draw upon everything you know about human nature and ask yourself: How hard are you going to work to take home 10 dollars out of every 100 dollars you earn? Who'd even bother getting out of bed in the morning? It's madness.

I don't care how rich you are. If you know the Gov't's gonna take 91% of your earnings, YOU STOP EARNING. You buy a goddamn YACHT to retire on. But luckily for the rich, there were loopholes.

The wealthiest 5% of this country SHELTERED their money back in the 1950s, and nobody -- but NOBODY -- paid 91%.

3. tax cuts drop gov revenues... so the rich DO pay before cuts,wn 91%..Ike built intrstates

Because ike and JFK prevented wealth from getting STUCK at the top, money came back to the middle class "producer/consumers", who spent and thus bought from the factories... keeping factories open, keeping prosperity going. We had prosperity in the fifties and sixties.

Hoover...a GOP...
Bush...a GOP ..
gave us a Great Depression and a Great Recession.

As to getting up and working....

The superrich inherit old fortunes in the main. Pls don't cherrypick rare exceptions. Stay with the broad reality

Besides, keeping 9% of each additional dollar is still more new money coming in... Especially nice when there is no work involved... Just letting dividends roll in. They are called "idle rich" with good reason. The Society Page shows the parties that are their life.

You are going to "ignore button" so enjoy the last word.

4. You got it, billl! Thanks for verifying the Rethug belief --
-- that the Liberal response to arguments they have no answer for is to plug their ears and sing "La-la-la I can't hear you!"

Congratulations and enjoy your echo chamber.

Pathetic.
