Let the tax cuts expire! All of them during the lame duck...
Then just write a bill during the lame duck session granting a whole new set of tax cuts called the Obama tax cuts for the middle class. Pass it with reconciliation in the Senate with the proviso that they expire in 6 years so WE can run on the extension of the Obama tax cuts.

The Dems really need to learn to play by the new rules the GOP have created. Bush passed these under reconciliation and they are set to expire. LET THEM! Come on Democrats USE YOUR POWER!

1. Only one reconciliation bill can be passed per year.
We already had one.

7. It's actually one per budget. We didn't pass a budget for this fiscal year, so no reconciliation. nt

5. tax cut
As I recall, the Bush tax cut for the middle class was only about $250, and I think it counted as taxable income the following year.

6. The problem is that we never passed a budget, so we can't use budget reconciliation. n/t
