For some reason KO has the same reading of the Axlerod interview that all the other proficient readers of English have.

Doesn't he know the WH denied it?

3. It wasn't a denial in my opinion
Apparently, Keith agrees. The weasel words were out in full force.

17. All I see is the White House signalling they won't support making the cuts for the wealthy permanent
Edited on Thu Nov-11-10 08:38 PM by laughingliberal
What I believe is they will agree to a temporary extension. I hate it. It kicks it down the road and we'll be fighting it every few years.

5. I'm really not seeing a firm denial. I'm seeing the WH floating the possibility
of a temporary extension of the tax cuts for another 2 years (conveniently through the end of the current Presidential term).

Keith is simply standing up for the working and middle class... articulating that we shouldn't be giving tax cuts for people "who don't need them" (as the President has said in the past) instead of providing job creation/works projects for people in desperate need of employment.

7. If that little piece is "trashing", you might want to lie low for awhile
in the event the administration actually DOES cave in on this issue.

You'll probably have a stroke when you see the fury such a move would unleash.

9. You know... you just gave me a potential insight into the method/madness
The funny thing is, there have not been the expected explosions over a series of these slow motion sell-outs.

By the time the thing is formalized everyone has already accepted the inevitable... cynicism rather than rage.

So maybe there is some weird sense to the 'death by a thousand cuts' PR approach.

13. You have a good point.
But there's a compounding effect, too. Eventually, the thousand paper cuts are painful.

If the DADT report comes back from the Pentagon in December and action doesn't move forward on repeal...
and this extension of tax cuts for the rich comes to pass...
and the administration backs away from the 2011 withdrawal from Afghanistan...

the pressure cooker might let out a bit more than steam.

11. I personally think Obama will extend all the tax cuts for two years, despite the denial. Elections
have consequences, and his choices are all or nothing. Given that nothing will be a 310 billion/year hit on the economy for the middle class tax cuts expiring when we have 9.5% unemployment, he'll probably sign a bill extending them all and then veto a bill in 2 years trying to do so again (when the economy's better).

22. The way I read it, the WH has only denied they would agree to 'permanent' tax cuts for the upper 2%.
Goody! The cuts will be extended temporarily and we can fight this out again in a few years while we continue to hear about the effing deficit.

24. "Trashing our President" =
... telling the truth: our "progressive" emperor has no clothes. Much to the deep chagrin of millions of true and authentic liberals.

A White House denial now enjoys the same merit, credibility, and currency as does the dozens of campaign promises made prior to the morning of January 20, 2009.
