Once the Republican tsunami rolls into Washington ...
they will hold a smaller majority in the house than we (Democrats) currently hold. Where was all the talk about our *overwhelming mandate*?

2. Same place all the yapping about the "will of the people"
See, only Republicans get to talk about "mandates" and the "will of the people," and they only talk about those things when they have a plurality of public opinion on their side. It is strictly forbidden to impute a mandate to the continuing Democratic majority in the Senate, or to claim that the President enjoys the imprimatur of the will of the people.

I hope that explains it.

4. You obviously do not understand "GOP math." Each thug Con. counts as two in calculating
number of seats held.

Exactly the reverse of Democratic math that halves the number of Democrats holding seats (and this does not even adjust for Mad Dogs).

Understand now?

6. yup, there is NO mandate.
They hold only the House. They can block legislation now but the DEMS are still in the driver seat.

7. The Dems SHOULD be in the driver's seat - if they're not too squeamish. nt

9. we'll see
but retainment of the driver seat also means responsibility for the economy. In some ways... I wish the Pubs had won the Senate so they'd carry the blame into 2012.

10. Will Democrats condemn the austerity commission and demand it be disbanded?
Obama must immediately disband the austerity commission and purge the "deficit-cutting" faction in his administration if there is to be any hope.
