Pembroke Pines area schools on lockdown after credible threat

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (AP) -- Pembroke Pines officials have locked down all the schools in the area as a precaution due to a "credible threat."

A spokeswoman for Broward County Schools said Wednesday the threat was not directed at the schools.

Nadine Drew said police are working on an unconfirmed but credible threat and there is "swat activity" in the jurisdiction."

Drew said to minimize movement and activity at the schools as a precaution they are being placed on lockdown, everything as normal as possible at the schools.

No other details were immediately available.

A phone call to Pembroke Pines Police was not immediately returned.
