SUN VALLEY, Calif. -- A 23-year-old woman whose boyfriend died when he parked their car in the path of a Metrolink Train in Sun Valley denies her initial statement that he tried to kill them both. Michelle Wright initially told detectives that she and Brandon Julius Funches, 21, had been arguing before Funches drove onto the train tracks on Monday, Lt. George Rock told the Los Angeles Times.
She initially said that when they reached the crossing gate in Pacoima, Funches pulled around two other cars and parked on the tracks, putting the passenger side of the car in the path of the train, Rock told The Times.
"Her impression was he intentionally stopped there so they would both be killed," Rock said, adding: "She could not recall if he said anything at that moment ... She was terrified the train was bearing down on her."
Funches was killed when he was ejected and hit by debris from the crash, the newspaper reported.
