Keith's SPECIAL COMMENT on the Democratic Congress
------------------------------------------------------
Tonight on Countdown
------------------------------------------------------

Was the Democratic Congress elected to get us out of Iraq?
How are they doing on that score?
Keith's Special Comment.

Top U.S. commanders and diplomats in Iraq are completing a far-reaching campaign plan for a new U.S. strategy, laying out military and political goals and endorsing the selective removal of hardened sectarian actors from Iraq's security forces and government. The classified plan, scheduled to be finished by May 31, is a joint effort between Gen. David H. Petraeus, the senior American general in Iraq, and U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker. More than half a dozen people with knowledge of the plan discussed its contents, although most asked for anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about it to reporters. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/22/AR2007052201600_pf.html

In Baghdad, fighting their 'Alamo'. U.S. troops in the Iraq security push face daunting foes: snipers and bombs. A captain fears it may be 'their surge, not ours.' http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-surge23may23,1,1160458.story

Iraqi police found the body of a man they said was wearing what appeared to be a U.S. military uniform in the Euphrates River south of Baghdad on Wednesday. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18814416/

President Bush, stressing that Americans face an ongoing threat from terrorists, shared intelligence on Wednesday asserting that Osama bin Laden was working in 2005 to set up a unit inside Iraq to hit U.S. targets. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18809646/

The Justice Department's former White House liaison denied Wednesday that she played a major role in the firings of U.S. attorneys last year and blamed Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty for misleading Congress about the dismissals. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18816284/

That's some of what we're planning tonight.

1. So since Fox and Republicans have whined about Keith's partisanship
What are they going to say about this? Keith's clearly going to go after Democrats tonight (and rightly so). When's the last time Fox ever went after a Republican they agreed with (obviously Ron Paul is too libertarian to count for them)?

4. He will chastize them, but also point out that the Dem congress has done much more than
the GOP congress ever did to address Iraq with regards to hearings, resolutions, and attempts at time tables, ect.

14. KO is aware that "hold them accountable" isn't just for republicans
All politicians need to be held accountable when they fail to do what is best for the country.

Not one sided cheer leading. I'll bet Colbert and Stewart will have a few things to say about this subject, too. "Fake news", indeed...
