I'm talking real friends, not facebook friends or relatives you're forced to socialize with.

Maybe I'm just living in my little queer lefty Toronto bubble, but most of my friends seem to be quite progressive, if not downright radical :P . I mean, there are plenty of things we disagree on, and there are many different flavors of progressive between us, but we're more or less all decidedly left of centre.

I didn't intend it this way; it just kind of happened! Is my circle of friends an anomaly or something?

1. All my friends are more or less leftist.
Why would I have regressive or reactionary friends? That wouldn't interest me at all. I avoid such people.

4. Most of my close friends are progressive.
I do have one close friend who is right-wing, but we don't discuss politics and get along pretty well.

6. Same here. I don't have any right wing friends.
I'm sure that'll mean that I'm a meanie or something, but so be it. If someone hates people and helping, why hang out with them?

I am lucky that my immediate family is also liberal/Democratic.

8. Yes, probably 90-95 % ...just the kind of people I find that I get along with and want to be around
Even on FB, it's probably close to those percentages; and again, not by accident. I make it abundantly clear that I have no use for rightwingers, and although a few of my FB friends are conservative ( and only a few) I block and/or defriend 'em if they start putting up pro-Palin, Limbaugh et al B.S.
One reason I alternately laugh and get pissed off when I read occasional posts on DU about how all the hippies and boomers turned into republicans and are responsible for Reagan, Bush etc... Most of my friends and even just acquaintances are, like me, aging hippie/boomers, and like I said, the vast majority, while we've adjusted our beliefs as time has gone by to deal with the realities of our lives, or the times, still hold on to and live by, the progressive values we learned back in those days. Glad to know that you know many progressive and radical people in your generation.:fistbump:

9. My parents are conservative but my brother is a total left libertarian type
and my friends are more left leaning. Legalizing marijuana is one thing I talk to my brother about a lot.

10. Yes. I've tried to build a Republican-free life.
Unfortunately a family member brought one in as a boyfriend. Ugh.

11. I've got a pretty good mix...
probably because I like to shoot, brew beer, and play guitar. Seems like a lot Democrats and Republicans agree on beer and guns. Fewer Republicans to jam with but there are some.
