Poll question: Who Best Represents The Democratic Party - In Your View - Today?
I am not asking who you support for President. I think each of us had our own vision of what the Democratic Party is and what it means to the people of this nation. We may not all agree on each element of what it is to be a Democrat but we are close enough to each other on most things.

That said which of the people below seem to you to best represent the Party? If you don't see your person please chime in and let me know who you prefer.

If it isn't about the presidency, he gets my vote.

10. Dean gets MY VOTE too! HE is the only rational person I've heard
who isn't afraid to tell it like it is! Maybe that's why he isn't President today, but I like his style! He knows you don't shun southern veoters just because you think they're in a red state. He knows a candidate should tell the damn TRUTH to gain support of the people.

I know he committed not to run for Prez and I respoce that. I only wish there was a HD clone!

12. Let me put in a plug for Senator B Dorgan.
When the crunch is on, you can depend on him to be on the side
of the people.

Trade Policy, Immigration (his commnsense approach is impressive)

4. Paul Wellstone, which is why he was murdered almost two years to the day
that Carnahan was murdered.

They made sure to get Wellstone's wife so she couldn't run as Mrs. Carnahan did, thus delayign the Bushevik takeover of Amerika for a little while.

24. Totally agree - that's why he was murdered as they all have been
And Howard Dean. These two have, for me, represented the Democratic Party that I truly believe in. But from the list, it would most definitely have to be President-in-Exile Al Gore. Ever since 1992 when I picked up my first copy of "Earth in the Balance", I have always believed him to be a visionary which our country and the world desperately needed to survive. I now see him as a bridge to help guide us from the old world to the new.

If you're not going to include all the candidates, you can at least include a NOTA for people who don't like the list.

9. Gotta say Obama.
Edited on Tue May-22-07 06:12 PM by HypnoToad
I don't know about many of the candidates; but I've yet to find hypocrisy on Obama's part. No doubt I will, but listening to the man - he sounds upfront and honest. But, yeah, the "none of the above" is apropos right now given nobody has weeded out all but the 3 most likely candidates.

And therefore a bad choice of candidate because politics is, like acting, selling a lie. Or so we get told by the media often enough.

13. TODAY'S Dem party? Easy. Benedict Arnold.
What a bunch of f*cking traitors, caving in to Bush on Iraq.

The best and most honorable of the names posted in this poll is Al Gore. But after today, I wouldn't be surprised if he quits calling himself a Dem.

Edited on Tue May-22-07 07:08 PM by mmonk
I'm not sure presently what our party represents itself. Now if you mean represents what I think has been our party in my eyes, that's a different question. If I'm choosing my views on who should from your list, I'll go with Gore or Richardson. Represents the way I think, Randi.

25. I would say Obama, Gore and Dean. Never, ever Hillary who, if nominated I will leave the party.
I am sick of the DLC influence and the spinelessness and corporate boot licking.
Hillary represents everything wrong with the party. She will crush Dean and the progressive movement if nominated.
the DLC will rise again. the war will continue.
I am sick of the party always electing the most corporate and establishment candidate. the one closest to the republicans. I am sick of us always choosing the one we don't like and expect other to come to our side and vote for the dud.
No, I will leave, become independent and be done with politics.

27. Carter - hands down
Although his work towards deregulating American industries isn't a very bright spot, Carter is both the oldest Democratic former president and the only Democratic former president who actually stands for something and has the guts to get his name dragged through the mud for it. He should be given a great amount of respect.
