My sister has seen the light.
My sister and her husband are staunch repubs. She got a job with the Board of Ed a few years ago. You know were this is going. She was never into politics, she just followed her husband. Now her job is on the line. I had to say it. "You may be a republican, but you live a Democratic life. They have 2 kids in college, and use student loan programs, she works for the BofE, they are middle class, etc. she said I know, her ears are up and she's paying attention now, they are fighting. She has seen the light.

3. How nice for you to be able to help her make those important connections
I had a dear co worker who never saw that light even though she benefited from careers in two government offices and enjoys retirements from both jobs. And now she's on Social Security. But she still votes Repub.

She has always been a nice person in so many ways but she's also stubborn and stupid.

5. I like how you put that
"You may be a republican, but you live a Democratic life." I'm going to use that some time. Maybe tomorrow when I'm doing GOTV for Tarryl Clark.

6. I'm glad for you.
My sister (who is older and still treats me like I'm seven) makes condescending remarks about my intelligence/mind, in an "I love you so I forgive you for being so stupid" kind of way, when we discuss political issues. I really do love her a lot but have no voice whatsoever on anything that she happens to disagrees with.

She makes me feel small and insignificant, even though I know I'm more right on the issues than she is. And she'll probably never change. She's been taken care of, through the military, her entire adult life (not that she hasn't worked hard). She will probably never feel the pinch that most of us feel.

Oh well, I stopped trying to change with her years ago.

7. Remember
We own our feelings. No one can make you feel anything unless you hand over that power to them.
