CANON CITY, Colo. (AP) — Colorado gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo says President Barack Obama is a bigger threat to the United States than al-Qaida or terrorism.
He made the comments while campaigning in Canon City Tuesday, and his comments were reported Wednesday by the Canon City Daily Record.
Tancredo said that Obama posed a threat to the Constitution, saying: "It's not al-Qaida, it's the guy sitting in the White House."
Tancredo also said he believes Obama and Democratic Colorado gubernatorial candidate John Hickenlooper are "kindred spirits."
Tancredo has a reputation for controversial comments, including a suggestion that the United States bomb Islam's holy sites if attacked by nuclear weapons.
The former Republican congressman is running on the American Constitution Party ticket.
