The Media is spinning POTUS's Daily Show appearance as a failure
GMA clips only showing Stewart calling Obama timid.

Frankly, I'm pissed at Stewart. Here he is calling a rally for Democracy at a most important time and he puts this out there? I didn't watch but that was not smart.

OBTW...GMA has graphs showing that women are switching from Democrat to Republican. Where the fuck did they get that "data" from? :eyes:

2. What did you expect from our media?
Stewart's comments were valid.

Here are comments about the show from a DUer that watched it:

25. How can you say Stewart's comments were valid....
Edited on Thu Oct-28-10 08:24 AM by dennis4868
Stewart has bought the narrative that Obama is not making the change he promised as fast as he said he would.....WTF! Over and over during the campaign for president, Obama always said that change is going to be hard and take time and we all have to be patient. This was even one of the first things Obama said in Chicago the night he won the presidency. Now you have people like Stewart that is saying that Obama promised change right away. This is not what Obama promised. He never said he was a Messiah! Just the opposite. Stewart treated Obama very unfairly,

5. No matter what Obama does.....
Is going to be reported in a negative way.....this reminds me of the Clinton years. With regard to Jon Stewart, sometimes he pisses me off. Does Stewart not remember that in every campaign speech, including his speech the night he was elected President, Obama always said that change Will Take Time And Will NOT Be Easy. Obama did not set high expectations for his administration. Only people like Stewart did and that is not Obama's fault.

and you don't call the POTUS "dude." There is a certain level of respect that you should have for a president no matter if he is a repub or dem....it was embarrasing when Stewart called Obama "dude."

stewart comes back with a member in the audience. and there was another comment like tht earlier. the first one, disrespectful, but ok. the second one.... rude.

12. Agree. I thought Stewart, and many in his audience, were too giggly and not polite.
I also didn't like Stewarts questions. I learned nothing new from his "interview"; which is not what I expected from Stewart.

In saying that, most in the audience seemed to be VERY supportive of Obama.

14. Rally to Restore Sanity...
will be our most effective GOTV effort. watch.

The angry and disenfranchised don't want to hear the Obama love. Justified or not, we need to appeal to cynicism as well as reason. That's why partisan Dems seem to hit a brick wall when it comes to persuading voters: they're unwilling to acknowledge that they're part of the problem. Independent voters do not see it the same way.

26. Let's be clear - Stewart is not leading a "Democratic Party pep rally"
on Saturday. I realize that "Rally to Restore Sanity" is awfully close to a direct hit on tea-baggers, but Stewart's primary job is still that of a political satirist.

29. Wait a minute,
You state that "The Media" is spinning the appearance as a failure, but then you go on to cite one show, Good Morning America (which is, if I remember right, the least popular of the morning shows). Then you state you didn't see the Daily Show in its entirety, or at all, yet you blast Stewart for asking a tough question.

Rather than overreacting to such limited information, you could spend your time on broadening your information intake. The Daily Show is rebroadcast this morning. Try listening to other shows besides GMA, or better yet, read the newspapers and listen to the radio.

Geez, this is the epitome of Obama fanboyism. Taking minute amounts of information and painting broad brush insults of entire groups.

35. Oh bullshit. I watched and had no problem with the interview. Maybe I'm one of
the idealists, but I have felt the same way that John described quite a few times. I felt that Obama answered those concerns well, and given the dischord of this campaign, I hardly think his tone was disrespectful. "Dude" doesn't strike me as any where near "Shove it" or "Kenyan Socialist Nazi" which are the kind of nastiness spewing from some politicians' lips.

Not surprising that our crappy MSM is spinning this as a failure. They spin everything he does as a failure. Nothing new there. I don't see why John Stewart is at fault. He's tougher on BOTH sides than anyone that works for the "real" news.

38. He asked some questions that I wanted asked
to Obama. He asked some questions I wouldn't.

Overall a good interview by Stewart and Obama but must be seen in its complete context and not just snippets.

Imagine a John King, Billo, Tweety, Wolf Blitzer, David Gregory,
Larry King etc interview?

I would like to see Obama do one with Rachel or Keith again.

and when it's in favor of Stewart, of course, it's doubled.

If John hadn't said anything even remotely critical, they'd be criticizing him about that!
