How can GOP idiots think Obama has failed???
And I don't mean use lefty's (including me) who think he should have done more liberal things!

I had a GOP friend say "so, how do you feel about Obama now' with a smug attitude like I was going to just admit he was a failure.

And when I asked what he did wrong he named the usual suspects, Health Care, Bail Out, Taxes, Recovery Act, Etc.

I countered each one with FACTS and he honestly had no facts. Just shit he heard on Fox News.

I am BEGGING for a logical fact filled discussion about what Obama has done wrong from some GOP friend.

It amazes me how easy it is to tell people how to think. The GOP is great at it.

1. Clearly he's not perfect
The most recent example is the DADT fiasco, and overall I would say he needs more of a backbone,

but what pisses me off is, just like you said, the absence of facts from people that speak against him. It sucks because you just can't have a logical conversation with someone who can't even defend their arguments, and you can't show them your reasoning because they don't care about reasoning.

2. They believe it because they want to believe it.
Facts get in the way, so they are ignored.

14. Their formula: Continually demonize 'till the opponent is weakened,
Edited on Wed Oct-27-10 01:50 AM by deacon
at election time, back up the demonization with more demonization via media ads which keeps the opponent always on the defensive where they don't have to discuss their positions (what they really want or believe). "We're just better."

3. He hasn't fixed all of the Republicans' messes fast enough
to allow them to mess things up......again. If the Republicans win big in November, the people whom voted to put them back in power because they think Obama allegedly didn't "fix" things fast enough or because his initiatives have "failed" (:wtf:) are going to begin demanding that the Republicans give them the results that "they didn't get" from Obama and the Republicans are going to HAVE to deliver on their *promises* or THEY are going to be ones tossed out on their butts in 2012- though them getting tossed out and/or imploding by 2012 is liable to happen anyway because of all of the crazy promises that they've made to the teabaggers that they can't possibly deliver on and they have absolutely no agenda other than to make Obama a one-term President (per Mitch McConnell). I think that they will find their little "resurgence" to be surprisingly (to them) short-lived.
:nuke:

4. sadly
the same reason many Democrats do, he has on the one hand been too slow and polite to be taken seriously, but on the other hand, he is an affront to the vanity to many white people, who thought the "someday" when they were not the default for power was somewhere off in the future.

The GOP doesn't think, they just do what they're told to do.

6. Because most Americans are worse off now than on 1/20/2008
(except the bankers, of course.)

You can argue that we're better off than if Obama had not taken the few steps he took - and I'd agree. But most of us are in substantially worse shape than when Obama took office.

7. that's pretty much the complaint that there is no real political discussion in this country
It's hard to talk about issues when the main Republican party isn't interested in reality. The "middle" ground Republican defaults to fantasy libertarian world that doesn't exist and won't be a great place if it did. Yet they claim to be the sane Republican. So where do you start?

8. They don't believe anything.

This is just a tired old rethuglican tactic that has worked well for them in the past.

"Repeat a lie often enough and loudly enough and sooner or later it becomes accepted as the truth."

Right out of the Obstructionist Handbook.

10. Because that has been their plan since Jan 21 2009
They realized that unless the blocked everything Obama was trying to accomplish, they would be swept into the wilderness like the 30 years after FDR. And even FDR wasn't able to accomplish Health Care Reform, step one.

So, really, it's their plan, articulated and broadcast since that day. Let's not forget who dominates the airwaves.

11. I've been wondering the same thing...
Except I've been wondering it about my fellows left-liberals.

I think I would work any job except sewer dredger, and President of the United States. So kinda the same thing.

12. Tell your friend that her preznit wrecked the country for 8 years &
it's going to take longer than two years to dig us out. Why didn't you notice all the problems when your preznit was making all the wrong choices? You weren't one of the ones cheering him on, were you -- please tell me you weren't!"
