Hmmm.... I just voted in the Kentucky Primary, and I was asked for ID
I have a valid driver's license, so this wasn't a problem for me, but it was the first time in my life (I'll be 34 in a couple of weeks) I've been asked for ID at the polls.

Is this a new law?

1. It is in Ohio
I would even have to ask my husband for his id. Pay no attention to the stuff Rove is doing. We have to stop voter fraud. :sarcasm:

2. I have always been asked.
I've seen people show a power bill or even a library card.

3. Who did you vote for? I am hoping for a Fletcher win
in the Repub primary, and a Lunsford loss in the Dem primary.

4. Nope. According to
http://www.lrc.state.ky.us/KRS/117-00/227.PDF since 2002, you've needed to show and ID such as a driver's license, Social Security card, or credit card unless the election officials recognized you personally.

8. You only have to provide ID if you are voting for someone other than GOP
If you want to vote GOP then nevermind the ID, go right in.

14. The reason I was wondering about it is because I wonder how many people weren't prepared to show ID
And were turned away because of it. I know that my elderly disabled grandfather is still registered to vote, but hasn't had a valid photo ID in years (he currently lives in Michigan, where I am from). Hmmm.

Voter turnout seemed to be dismal at my polling station, btw.

17. Yeah I understand....we have computers with no verification or counts afterward....
....so the reality is here they can manipulate the outcome regardless of who...what...where...how. :(

13. I can't remember when they didn't ask me for ID and I had it
I have no idea what happens if you don't have a picture ID. They must accept other forms of ID. (Colorado)

16. I am NEVER asked for I.D.
Walk up to the people manning the desks at the polls:

They ask "what street" ---- I say "Main Street"

They say "what number" ---- I say "123"

They ask "Jane Jones?" ---- I say "yes"

Then they hand me the ballot.

18. Are you new to Kentucky? They have asked for ids for years here.
I called them out on it today, however. I reminded them that it had been found unconstitutional in Georgia. I had on my Re-elect Gore shirt, just so I could advertise my favorite non-candidate.

19. Yes, moved here almost 5 years ago, so not my first time voting here though
Maybe the other poll workers were more lax, or they're starting to crack down on it now or something.
