Woot!

This is great news for John Joe Miller! NOT

Let's hope that Rachel has been doing some in depth journalism on the trials and tribulations of Joe Miller.

There's a lot to dig up.

This race is winnable for Scott McAdams.

THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW coming to TAPROOT!
SHANNYN MOORE: JUST A GIRL FROM HOMER

Grab a Redbull and buckle up, Buttercup. The Rachel Maddow Show is coming to Anchorage!
Apparently, our tight, 3-way US Senate Race is generating a lot of national interest.
Rachel did a great 10 minute segment on our crazy race last week:

So, here are the details. Rachel will be broadcasting live from the new home of Moore Up North, Taproot, TOMORROW, Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 5:00pm.

1. And I've requested tickets.
Edited on Mon Oct-25-10 06:17 PM by Blue_In_AK
:woohoo: :woohoo: Shannyn announced this on her show today and said that 2 tickets each would be issued on a first-come, first-served basis to the earliest e-mails, so people wouldn't be camping out in the Taproot parking lot, so I hope we're in there. They're supposed to let us know by midnight. I'm sitting on pins and needles.

I'm not usually in the habit of begging, but I have to admit, I seriously begged on this one.

Oh, and I WILL take pictures if I'm lucky enough to get in.

7. I'm not certain whether to call Rachel "brave" or....
..."crazy" to go up to Alaska (hardly a friendly place for liberals!). But then, some people thought I had a death wish by working at the local Democratic Party booth at my local county fair two weeks ago (remember, I live in rural Georgia!). :yoiks:

Well, if she's trying a GOTV gimmick for McAdams I feel it's a waste of time. McAdams has maybe a 3% chance of pulling an upset in the Alaska Senate race. Voters there may very well abandon Miller, but have an easy alternative with Murkowski. I just can't see Alaska voting for a Democrat, especially this year.

Maddow would be better off visiting Pennsylvania and Illinois where there's still some hope. Very discouraged by the polls released today showing that Sestak is once again 5 points behind and Giannoulias is still losing by 3.

This country seems determined go to hell in a handbasket (unless, of course, you've been blessed with highly-marketable skills, exceptional health, and wealthy ancestors).

8. Alaska isn't such a bad place for liberals.
There are more of us here than you might think.

10. Then why is it....
...that Democrats can't ever seem to get elected there? Even in 2008, it took a conservative Democrat to barely beat Ted Stevens, who was under a HUGE cloud of ethics allegations.

Still, you all don't have the death penalty....

13. We don't have the death penalty,
Edited on Tue Oct-26-10 11:16 AM by Blue_In_AK
we've had basically legal pot since 1975 (up to an ounce for personal use), we still have accessible abortions, we're always #49 or #50 in the "most religious" charts, we have one of the most progressive constitutions in the country, and actually Alaska almost didn't get admitted to the union because Eisenhower didn't want our Democratic Senators tipping the balance.

The Republicans came from Texas and Oklahoma with the oil boom. Now we're stuck with them.

Also we're trying to emerge from 40 years of Ted Stevens, who despite being a crotchety old bastard, really wasn't a fanatic in the mold of today's Republicans.

14. Ted Stevens
You're right about Ted Stevens. Had he been re-elected in 2008 (and were still alive in Washington), I've no doubt he'd be on the tea-baggers hit list for the 2014 Republican primary.

11. You realize that Murkowski is not actually on the ballot in Alaska -
voters can only make a choice for her by writing her in.

12. I know
But her write-in candidacy is pretty well-known. Too bad for her she's got a long name to spell!
