I ring the doorbell, and after a little while he comes to the door: in fact, he comes through
the door, carrying a large piece of equipment

"You've come at a really bad time," he tells me

I'm ready to scram, but what's a second or two? Can I give you some literature on Democratic candidates who will support the President?

He pauses for a mere instant to process that, and he does a slight double-take. Then he reaches for my handout

With an apology for bothering him, I'm on my way

Then I hear, Thank you!

I turn. He's gotten the equipment into his car. Thank you for doing this, he says from a distance

It's an important election, I call back

5. It's fun. This man could have told me again that it really was a bad time to chat.
I delayed him for a few seconds when he did not want to be delayed at all. But he thanked me for it :)

6. I flipped seven Republican houses this week.
None of them have ever had a politician come to their door (Husband of candidate - Me). When you talk to most of them on a one on one basis, and treat them with respect, I believe they have a light turn on that tells them that they are closer to Democrats then they thought.

Good work my friend.

8. Politics is all about people.
Most people aren't jerks, and I think most of them are capable of intelligent conversation

Kudos on your flips! :)
