Before it gets too late, I would like to say that
I like Rachel Maddow a lot. Which is more than I can say about Andy Williams.

Now of course Andy Williams is a crooner where Rachel is a news analyst so at first glance I'm sure you're thinkin, 'Well, Christ, you can't even compare the two because they're in separate categories.' But in the age of web and 24-7 news feeds, is that really true? What is Truth, after all?

And before you jump all over the sofa about it, no, I do NOT like Andy Williams all that much. I don't exactly HATE him, ladies and gentlemen, but I don't especially like him either. For one thing, why does he have to wear those stupid sweaters all the time? Blue sweaters. Yellow sweaters. Red sweaters. Jesus! Enough already with the sweaters.

If Andy took to wearing Muslim garb, though, he'd likely give pause to his brother Juan, especially at the airport, where Juan's cultural sensitivites would be at their most vulnerable. My guess is it probably doesn't take that much to ruffle Juan Williams' feathers. It's hard to believe those two are brothers in the first place, but I think you'd see the fur fly if Andy started wearing Muslim garb. It would take an ecumenical council of spiritualists and 500 shrinks to sort it all out.

It's just too bad they can't be more like their sisters, who excel in tennis.

27. I think someone...
is celebrating the Rangers win (or Yankees loss, depending on your perspective) a bit too hard. I had to look at the OP's name twice, thought it might have been Random Thoughts (who, generally, lives up to their name:) )

4. See now, I like Andy Williams.
Not a lot, but he's my mom's favorite so that's a reason to like him. Even if I can't really listen to his music. Definitely not. Still he's mom's favorite. Or was that Tommy? I'm always forgetting these things.

5. Fair enough, but surely your mother will concede that
Andy overdoes it on the sweaters.

For the love of God, I wish he'd find something else over at Men's Wearhouse.

I think we shouldn't open *that* particular can of worms, do you? hmmmm?

12. : )
It might be the logical next step for public tv to develop a series on a Muslim Mr. Rogers.

Hell, I'd watch it!

7. I'd just like to say
that I think I like Rachel Maddow a lot; an enormous amount. I think I'm beginning to like saltpoint a little, too. They both have that snarky sense of humor.

My neighbor who used to be a republican, then changed to a democrat, absolutely loves Maddow for her humor. When I have a few minutes around the time of her show, I pop in to my neighbor who has a TV and we watch her together.

One thing the right-wingers and Fox News do not have, is humor (or honesty, or humility, i.e. apologize).
So I don't think I like them too much.

Yeah for snark! yeah for humor.

conservatives are very menaced by her because she is very informed and has that big-picture fact thing going.

Once the bear was out of the act, I lost all use for Andy. If I was for some reason in Branson, I'd go see him, but only if the bear was back in.

18. Well, there you go!
This is more or less a paraphrase of my favorite quote:

"My life is absolutely meaningless. When I consider the different periods into which it falls, it seems like the word Schnur in the dictionary, which means in the first place a string, in the second, a daughter-in-law. The only thing lacking is that the word Schnur should mean in the third place a camel, in the fourth, a dust-brush."
