A Guardian reporter interviewed Sarah Palin while she was giving autographs to her fans. Sarah put her Sharpie marker on a book, a hat, and an American flag. The latter of which is against the law!

... a clear violation of the Flag Code. Subsection 8, part (g) reads: “The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.”

Is she a hypocrite? As I am sure she would favor locking up those dirty hippies who burn flags? Yes, she is a hypocrite.

But a flag desecration law would result in conundrums like this very frequently.
