Ethanol rush results in livestock being fed cookies, french fries, candy, etc.
http://www.farmpolicy.com/

The Wall Street Journal noted today (May 21, 2007) that, "Thanks to the ethanol rush, the price of a bushel of corn for months has hovered around $4 — nearly double the price of a few years ago," and as a result, some livestock producers are now feeding their animals "trail mix, pigs and cattle are downing cookies, licorice, cheese curls, candy bars, french fries, frosted wheat cereal and peanut-butter cups."

Yechhh!

4. Feeding live stock table food is nothing new..
I've seen hundreds of pastured horses fed mountains of stale bread and pastries. It's always been done to offset the price of grain where there is a large turnover of animals. It's not recommended as a steady diet of course, but rather than see our stale food go to waste, it does serve a purpose in transient feed lots.

6. Yup... count on the price of meat following gas. Up..Up..and Away....
Of course if that means fewer animals are slaughtered and fewer miles are driven... then its a good thing.
