And yet we'd be up in arms, probably literally, if the government even suggested attacking those freedoms in ways that aren't even close to what corporations can do.

Here's an experiment anyone can try.

Remember a job you've applied to 10 years ago or more, regardless of pay or prestige.

Now compare that application to a job you've applied to recently also regardless of pay or prestige; isn't it weird that you have to sign more disclosures, waivers, forms to consent to background checks and credit checks than, oh I don't know, information that pertains to the actual qualifications of the job you are applying to?
