There little point in swapping a corporate Republican with a DLC Dem,
Edited on Tue Oct-19-10 07:16 PM by denem
or indeed 'moderate' republican with a 'blue dog' Dem.

Well actually there is (doh)

Whatever the tag
a Democrat's views on specific policies can all over the shop.

With a Republican, you are not so much voting for a representative,
but the untrammeled agenda of the Republican Leadership.

Once in Congress an individual Republican's positions barely matter.
When it comes to the crunch they will be corralled to vote lockstep
on every piece of legislation crucial to the leadership

Exhibit A: Medicare Part D

Medicare Part D was so unpopular in the House,
the gavel was held for hours while some reluctant Republican
Representatives, were ferreted out of their toilet cubicles.

Vote for a Democrat, you get a Representative,
however compromised.

Vote for a Republican, you get an agenda: A hard set agenda,
twisting whichever way a faceless 'Leadership' divines.
