Death and Sex.

That's the topic on tonight's Malloy show. First the death. The Mid East crisis continued to spiral out of control over the weekend as Lebanese security forces attacked a Palestinian refugee camp alledgedly housing Islamic militants from the al-Qaeda-inspired Fatah al-Islam group. At least 70 people have been killed in two days of violence, making this Lebanon's worst incidence of internal violence since the 1975-90 civil war.

Ready for more death? Over the weekend, suicide bombers in Afghanistan killed a total of 19 people in two separate attacks — one on Saturday in the province of Paktia and one Sunday in the city of Kunduz. The Taliban claimed responsibility for both attacks. Among those killed over the weekend were three German soldiers operating under the NATO flag.

Just another little taste: Police in Iraq say gunmen killed at least seven people in an attack on a minibus, and a lawmaker says a mortar shell hit the roof of the parliament building. But the violence has not diminished President Bush's public confidence in Iraq's prime minister. He called the Iraqi today to mark the first anniversary of Maliki's "inauguration." Hey Iraqis, the giggling killer has given you a directive! Grab your remaining family members and turn that frown upside down, it's time to PARTY!!!

Speaking of Chucklenutz, he spoke to reporters about the recent carnage during one of his many brush-cutting vacations at the Prairie Chapel in Crawford. Bush contemplated the ongoing massacre, then said: "We're involved in an ideological struggle; that these murderers -- these radicals, these extremists -- have got a point of view." Uhm, yeah.

Thus spaketh the Decider.

As for the Sex, it seems that the ultra-pious laughing hyena and porn star wannabe also known as "Dr. Laura" might need to focus a little of her ten-cent, two-minute therapy on her 21-year-old son Deryk, (love that spelling) who joined the army in 2004 and is currently deployed in Afghanistan. According to news reports, Deryk has been linked to a MySpace page, now removed, replete with offensive imagery. This had to happen, you know it did.

The MySpace page, publicly available until Friday when it disappeared from the Internet, included cartoon depictions of rape, murder, torture and child molestation; photographs of soldiers with guns in their mouths; a photograph of a bound and blindfolded detainee captioned 'My Sweet Little Habib'; accounts of illicit drug use; and a blog entry headlined by a series of obscenities and racist epithets.

It also included several graphic cartoons. In one of the stick drawings, a top-hatted man laughs as he rapes a bound and bleeding woman in front of her family. In another depiction, a man forces a boy to perform oral sex at knifepoint as the child's mother pleads for her son's life. It's unclear who created the cartoons, but Army spokesman Robert Tallman said the drawings 'are repulsive and not anywhere near being acceptable,' for a soldier's personal Web page.

In an interview with The Salt Lake City Tribune last week, Dr. Laura said, "We raised our son to be a warrior." Gee, and from where I'm sitting it seems like you raised him to be a drug-abusing, racist, sadistic, pedophillic rapist who gets his jollies watching innocent children tortured and mutilated. What went wrong I wonder?

I ran over a small furry creature on the Garden State Parkway on the way to Atlantic City yesterday. :cry: I feel awful and it kind of put a jinx on the rest of the trip.

I slow down to make sure the pidgeons get out of the way. I saw it crawl into the road, but I didn't have time to avoid it. He was moving kind of slow, I think he may have already been injured. I don't know what kind of animal it was either.

I was always absolutely paranoid I was going to hit a deer when I lived over at the coast and drove over the mountain sometimes. I almost just didn't drive because of that.

A big dog ran into my car one time but he kept on going and it was downtown. I don't think he was hurt but I never saw him again. It is devastating!!


But you would never never hurt a little animal so just give his little spirit to heaven.

It always breaks my heart. I wish they'd put up fences to keep the deer from wandering onto the Parkway. It would be safer for both drivers AND the deer.

We've been there quite a few times, but this was the first trip since Katrina. We didn't want to go down and gawk, but we did want to help their economy since we love the place so much. And the hospitality industry, which accounts for a lot of jobs there, is hurting. Everywhere we went people were telling us to let friends at home know that they welcome visitors and need the business.

And, man, the oysters were good!!!:7

Grayline and others are running daily Katrina tours. You go out for 3 hours and tour the worst areas. It may sound ghoulish, but I think they really want people to know how IGNORED they've been by the Feds. They tell you why people couldn't or didn't evacuate - no cars, no money, no available hotel rooms within 300 miles, previous evacuations that were false alarms...and then the fiasco after the fact. It's truly eye-opening. People wanting to return post-Katrina, but finding rents had doubled. I'll never forget the doorman at the Marriott telling us about how he and his wife were renting upstairs, and their landlords, who were over 90, had to stay upstairs while the doorman waited on the roof until a GOOD SAMARITAN came by in a boat and rescued them after 4 days. By the time he dropped them off in shallow water, the landlord's wife was too weak to walk, so the men found a shopping cart, piled their clothes in it and the old woman on top, and went off in search of shelter.

This is America in the 21st century. SHAME!!!

We had the best time! The workers in the French Quarter wanted everyone to know they're open for business and kicking. We like to go to oyster bars and actually sit at the bar and talk to the shuckers. Did we hear stories! People on the roof for 3-4 days, getting rescued by Good Samaritans in rowboats, pushing 90-year-old landlords in shopping carts to the Convention Center, looking for shelter. It was horrible for them, but they didn't want to leave, and in most cases couldn't leave. On the one hand, it breaks your heart. On the other hand, you feel so energized by the human spirit!

Oh yeah, "FEMA" and "B**H" are anathema everywhere. Just get 'em started!

The kitties are fine and fighting for laptime.;-)

110. We have to get back there. Mr. smokey and I have been there twice.

The first time was for our first anniversary almost seven years ago; we were there for Halloween and it was a blast. Mr. smokey and I hung out on Bourbon Street in our costumes. He was the Grim Reaper (at 6'8", he was quite impressive) and I was Regan McNeil, the girl from "The Exorcist".

Why is nato in Afghanistan?

On September 11 the Secretary General of NATO, a Spaniard at the time, put a vote to the members, to invoke article five. You guessed it, that is the mutual defense article in the treaty.

They went to Afghanistan for the same overt reasons we went there, go after those who attacked a member of NATO... now our intentions were different, but you and I know that, and nobody was expecting this from Bush, or so I suspect.

Now reach for your tinfoil hat, as we started to push the drums for war, NATO did not swallow Iraq....

But that is why NATO is in Afghanistan, Article Five was invoked. In fact, that is also the reason NATO C-130s flew over this country for the first two months after Sept 11 on Air Watch patrols and why members of the German Air Force flew Combat Air Patrol missions over the mainland of the US.

By he way that aspect was way, WAAAYYYY under played by the American Press but CBC did not.... damn it I miss watching the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. and their extremely good coverage of real issues

Oh and by the way, NATO has no way out, since they invoked article five... (International law), but I wonder how many times their national leaders have hit heads against wall, and also... this front of the so called war on terror keeps them tired down, where they cannot come after all, if you get my drift
