Clinton Portis has taken too many hits to his head playing football
While prosecutors and the league try to find out if Michael Vick was involved in a dog fighting ring at a Virginia house that he owned, one NFL player says it doesn't matter if he did take part.

"I don't know if he was fighting dogs or not, but it's his property, it's his dog," Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis told WAVY-TV in Virginia. "If that's what he wants to do, do it. I think people should mind their business."

When told that dog fighting is a felony, Portis replied, "It can't be too bad of a crime."

***So.....portis thinks a felony can't be that bad of a crime. Obviously he's getting his understanding of law from regent university of liberty baptist college because he has NO clue***

2. Who let the dogs out?
That's what ought to be blaring over the PA system everywhere Vick and the Falcons play -- especially the Dome, of course:

Guess the same goes for Portis and the R*dsk*ns, too...

and "Who Let the Dogs Out" is one of the songs they blare from the loudspeakers. I wonder how Clinton will react next season.

8. my dad used to be a season ticket holder
before Snyder priced him out....

Oh, FFS Portis, what in the name of hell is going through your head??

Even though it should be said that among pro athletes, breeding pits and rotts for "entertainment" purposes is MUCH, MUCH more widespread than anyone in the media wants to admit, so Vick has turned into something of a lightning rod...His true mistakes were 1. Denying any involvement at first and being proven a liar, and 2. Having cousins ignorant enough to have malnourished dogs living in shitty conditions...

5. What an idiot.
Vick should be in prison if guilty. And Portis supports the torture of animals. Nice.

6. I KNEW Vick's troubles were actually Clinton's fault.
Hell, in a few hundred years future societies will view US as barbaric for hockey and football.

10. Nobody is saying Vick's problems are Portis' fault
But for Portis to say that it can't be that big a crime when it's a felony makes him sound at best, uninformed.

9. I've read there's a big dog-fighting subculture among NFL athletes
which is fairly natural, if completely inexcusable, given the violent nature of the sport, the wealth and the relative unaccountability. Once upon a time European nobles who hunted boar actually went to war. NFL players feel they go to war every week of the regular season (plus preseason to some degree and playoffs to a much greater degree) and therefore naturally feel they should be able to enjoy something like dogfighting which is, also, a violent, competitive sport. We do things with NFL athletes that would be considered inhumane to do to dogs - just the dogs don't have contracts, unions or millions of dollars in salary and extensive insurance.

So I can see why Portis said that, why he thinks that, and also, why it is stupid and wrong...
