1. it's a fantasy of repuke propaganda
Edited on Mon Oct-18-10 03:05 AM by Skittles
the only "supermen" are rich-fuck CEOs who earn their living off the backs of people who actually work, while pimping the jobs off to the lowest overseas bidders

14. My old signature motto:
"No one worth billions ever earned that wealth themselves. Someone else earned it for them."

2. I don't know, but I do know that...
all the Firefighters and Cops that ran up the stairs in the World Trade Center were union members. To me each one was a real live Superman.

3. Because Krypton exploded and there aren't enough survivors to form a union?
We are talking about the asshole in the blue tights, right?

If we're talking humans... the answer would be- (s)he isn't- (more likely to be...)

10. Because we have to do the work of 10 people for the cost of one
just to stay employed. We have no representation to force fair hours, work allotment, and pay. We know the job market sucks, and the older we get the less marketable we become. So we suck it up and become "superman" in order to get done what needs to be done and earn our spot for maybe one more pay period.

You have a serious disconnect going there.

27. I couldn't finish that book. in college I was doing some sort of paper on something, and
that was one of the books I read. it was so disgusting, so depressing, I had to stop. blue milk, from tubercular cows. housing projects in chicago built over toxic garbage dumps

offal, dead rats, killed by bread covered with rat poison, all mouldering under a leaky roof, all swept up off the killing floor...then turned into some meat byproducts. YUMMO, Rachel! I still remember that, over thiry years later

28. I read it in high school
and it made quite an impression. It should be required reading for all those demonizing unions. Is this what they want to return to? Or do they think they'll be magically exempt from the kind of life portrayed in the book? And how do we know that the people in Bangladesh who make clothes for Walmart aren't living that life now?

29. hey! those foreigners want a 1700 percent raise! or something like that:
from 1 and a half/two cents per hour, all the way up to 35 cents/hour.

did you see that thread the other day?

greedy bastards

think of all you can buy over there for thirty five cents an hour!

that's almost twenty dollars a week. (course, it's probably more like thirty five, if they're still working 100 weeks over there, which is what we'll be working here soon, if all the anti-union DUers here get their way)

right to work....YES!!!

I agree with you, unions nowadays are stifling American creativity and production, but geez I certainly don't have the balls to say so outloud here. Oops, I guess I just did.

They are union members. Right wingers are trying to rewrite comic book fiction as well as reality now.
