It's well established that both Reagan and Dubya had/have a great love of their homesteads.
Here's the difference: Reagan flew to California a LOT. Once he was there, he rode his horse and chopped firewood. After a few trips, the press generally just hung out in the closest town to the "Western White House" in case he killed himself, because after all you can only have so many pictures of one man riding a horse or chopping firewood and they already had plenty.
Bush flies to Texas a lot more than Reagan flew to California. Once he's there, he endangers his houseguests by driving drunk around his ranch with them in the passenger seat, golfs and clears brush--and the press photographs every move he makes and runs it in the papers.
How many pictures of a drunk driver do you really need?
