Gunmen ambush British fuel convoy in Iraq

Gunmen ambushed a British military supply convoy in the southern Iraqi city of Basra on Monday in a clash that left a fuel tanker ablaze and at least one badly burned body on the street.

Jubilant Iraqis dragged the corpse away from the burning truck and danced around it, flashing victory signs at press photographers.

"We were aware of the fuel tanker being set on fire, we believe there is a casualty," British spokesman in Basra Major David Gell said.
