2. "Immigration Reform"
If the so-called "immigration reform" passes, our soldiers will find that the best pay they can get is to remain in the military ... because of low-wages caused by an over-supply of cheap, exploitable labor from Mexico.

American soldiers are dying for transnational corporate profit in Iraq and what they are getting back home is the royal screw from Bush, the national Chamber of Commerce, and the "free trade" lobby in Congress.

4. Our soldiers have pretty much always died to keep other Americans rich.
I don't say that in any flip sort of way. It's just the nature of what is of value and what is worth fighting for by a capitalist country.

5. Anyone who believes the war in Iraq is to protect us....
...is one of three things (or a combination of the three):

1 A complete idiot, easily led by anyone waving something vaguely resembling "the flag,"
2 A dangerously delusional person, who should be netted and medicated before the magic pixies in his head tell him to buy a gun,
3 A Poltroon, heavily invested in the industries that comprise the "military-industrial complex."

There is no number 4.

6. There's Always Someone Who Profits From War
It's been the biggest motive for this act of total insanity from the first time Joe Neanderthal wanted Fred Cro-Magnon's fire and mastadons...we've progressed little in that area since.

There should be a close look at the pressures various corporations put on this country pre-Iraq and post that have created a lot of wealthy contractors and their political and lobbying cronies. I always felt one faction that pushed the Iraq incursion was the billions thrown at defense contractors on all sorts of new toys in the 90s and these dudes not only were itching to see if they worked, but to draw down the stockpiles thus keeping the grease and gravy flowing.

Cheers...

7. this is more difficult than it seems
I was going to say for corporations of course-

But then i thought that the soldiers are doing it in their own minds to 'protect America'-

And then i thought some may believe that- some may have to 'tell' themselves that to make it ok- but there are probably others who know that this has nothing to do with 'protection' and everything to do with greed, control, profit and power. And that must make things extra difficult.

I have no doubt that this war was waged for the love of power and greed.
