9 accused of torturing 3 in the Bronx for being gay

This is such a horrific story. No, horrible doesn't describe it. Heinous, maybe.

My thoughts are with the victims. Victims of hate.


He was told there was a party at a brick house on Osborne Place, a quiet block set on a steep hill in the Bronx. He showed up last Sunday night as instructed, with plenty of cans of malt liquor. What he walked into was not a party at all, but a night of torture — he was sodomized, burned and whipped.

Neighbors of the building where the police say a group attacked two teenagers and a man who had had sex with them.
All punishment, the police said Friday, for being gay.

There were nine attackers, ranging from 16 to 23 years old and calling themselves the Latin King Goonies, the police said. Before setting upon their 30-year-old victim, they had snatched up two teenage boys whom they beat, the police said — until the boys — one of whom was sodomized with a plunger — admitted to having had sex with the man.

did this to them. :cry:

How could anyone do this to people they know, people they had been friendly with?

I can't imagine doing this to anyone, ever. But I always figured that people who are able to do it must do it to a stranger so it's nobody they know, and must dehumanized first so that there is nothing about them to know.

To be able to torture someone they know well, someone they had socialized with, hung out with, partied with... That must take some real monsters. :(

So over the top, it reminds me of a L&O: SVU episode.

3. I hope some people see this and start to rethink their attitudes

One of those victims could be your son or nephew or grandson. Someday it could be someone you know and love.
