China is willing to spend whatever it takes to make John Boehner Speaker
Edited on Sat Oct-09-10 10:17 AM by kpete

China Makes Its Big Move Into U.S. Politics Through The U.S. Chamber Of Commerce

The nefarious U.S. Chamber of Commerce has turned itself into a funnel for cash from the worst international actors on the planet, actors willing to ante up millions of dollars to get easily maipulatable Republicans into office. As we pointed out, before, China is willing to spend whatever it takes to make John Boehner Speaker and to insert stooges like Ron Johnson and Roy Blunt into the Senate. Yesterday CQPolitics reported that the Chamber has more than doubled its spending on political attack ads since Tuesday. Their foreign-financed attack ads are aimed primarily against Paul Hodes (D-NH), Michael Bennet (D-CO), Russ Feingold (D-WI), Joe Sestak (D-PA), Robin Carnahan (D-MO), Alexi Giannoulias (D-IL), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Charlie Crist (I-FL) and in support of Republicans who enthusiastically support trade policies which ship good-paying American jobs to low wage hellholes like China.

Time to dump the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Hernando Today

Published: October 8, 2010

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce wants us to believe that not one cent of the $75 million that they are spending on attack ads against Democrats comes from foreign donors. China, Saudi Arabia, India and scores of other foreign interests are exploiting the Supreme Court's disastrous decision that allows unlimited corporate money to buy our Congress.

2. You know , that cartoon is Racist .
Imagine a cartoon depicting African Americans as Lazy . Or the French as Dirty . or the Irish as perpetually drunk. Or the Jews hoarding gold. SAME EXACT THING.

3. Perhaps it is racist
but, in this case I agree. We've become the nation with the fastest strongest fingers thanks to texting, video games, etc.

Our minds however have been turned to swamp mud while we 'use our time sitting on our asses watching 'Reality' TV and idiots like Trent Lott and Bristol Palin, 'Dance with the Stars'. Yeah, and they're dancing on our graves.

(sigh: my anger and disgust have replaced the sorrow over the loss of a great man, too soon at the hand of a deranged idiot with a gun in his hand excersicing his Second Amendment Rights.

Happy Birthday, John.

7. If it was a depiction of Chinese as a whole it might have been
But its not. Its a depiction of Chinese sweat shops. And as such is very much on the point. Or is it racist to point out the working conditions in such facilities?

8. So you support slave wages
for Chinese women? It's not racist...the Chinese have fuckloads of money....more $$$$ than any other country...a fucking huge surplus.

And pretty soon, you are going to be taking orders from them....via the Orange Man. Got it?

The Chinese pride themselves on their good business sense....and that they make plans for a generation out, not just one quarter like our businesses do. That is their culture. They don't invade countries like we do....they come with a checkbook and make a deal. 'You have something we need and we are willing to give you a fair amount of money.' That's what they are doing in Iraq.

14. Wow, epic fail
Disagreeing with the shameful stereotyping of chinese people means you are in favor of slavery?

"The Chinese pride themselves on their good business sense"
Slave labor wages, systemic oppression, human right violations, epidemic pollution, and you think they have good business sense. If you think that is good business sense than you would probably like having the human Orange julius in charge.

The Chinese are known for their slave wages....I believe you have misunderstood me. But it's ok...I'll just ignore you. Potato head.

20. Ahhh someone doesn't agree with you, ignore them
"by good business sense I mean, how to exploit people to make money...."
Only to a sociopath. A tiny minority in their country have what you seem to think is good business sense.

You do realize it is possible to think that the cartoon is racist and disagree with the oppression of the chinese people and disagree with orange maniacs.

10. What, precisely, is racist about it?
Edited on Sat Oct-09-10 12:51 PM by Cirque du So-What
How is an illustrator supposed to depict east Asian people if not by their almond-shaped eyes? Is it racist to draw an African American with dark brown skin? A European with red hair & freckles? Was the cartoonist supposed to draw sunglasses on both the oppressed worker & the factory owner? I notice that you had fuck-all to say about the topic of this post - the horrid working conditions in Chinese factories that the plutocrats would inflict upon the rest of the world if they were able.

13. Going along those lines...
Is it racist to draw African Americans with giant lips, huge noses..... A minstrel show?

That is exactly what this cartoon is doing regarding Chinese people.

15. I don't want to discuss the imaginary racism inherent in that fucking cartoon any longer!
And thanks for dropping in from out of nowhere to attempt stirring the shit on a tangent completely unrelated to the topic at hand. Got anything to say about John fucking Boehner or the US fucking chamber of commerce taking fucking money from the fucking Chinese government? Didn't think so! BYE!

19. I didn't get a satisfactory answer either
and I notice you STILL haven't said squat about the actual topic. That's why I replied to the poster who accused the cartoon of racism in the first place. There was a distinct lack of substance where saying something about Boehner, the US Chamber of Commerce or their kowtowing to the Chinese government is concerned.

Al long last...have you got anything to say about the subject of the OP? If not, then kindly drop it, as I've said all that I want to about supposed racism in that GD cartoon.

21. "What, precisely, is racist about it?" Was the title of your post
If you don't want to discuss it you shouldn't post about in a discussion tree about it, while complaining that people who are trying to discuss the racism of the cartoon are not discussing something you want to discuss.

If you won't discuss what you are posting then you kindly drop it while we try to discuss the bigotry inherent in that cartoon.

24. Not sure, but the rendering of the man struck me that way
If he were drawn differently, the point could be made.

Also, there is some sort of blame-the-Chinese as such for our problems, and an indulgence in anti-Chinese rhetoric.

12. it's racist because china is depicted as a cheap labor state? i don't see how that equates
with tarring ethnic groups as lazy, dirty, drunk or money-loving.

Haven't bought Chinese crap (unless absolutely necessary...like fans) since 1989 and the massacre of students.

Fuck the Chinese rich boyz. I knew it was only a matter of time before I'd be taking orders from them.

Just wait....they'll embargo us. A currency war is already starting.

11. If I were China and I saw the SCotUS approve anonymous donations for US campaigns...
I wouldn't have any compunction dumping barrels of cash into US campaigns that further my own aims and wealth.
It is the US's own fault for allowing such a stupid thing as unlimited anonymous donors and I would take advantage of it all I could before they realize what they have done.

23. Unclean hands - we are doing precisely what the Chinese are doing with the NED/your tax dollars
this from the US Chamber website

---8<-----
Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)
The Center for International Private Enterprise is an independent, non-profit affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. As one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy, CIPE promotes democratic and market-oriented economic reform by working directly with the private sector in developing countries.
---8<-----

What this means is that there is a line item in our federal budget for fucking with other peoples political systems in order to foist our wonderful "Democracy" off on them. This has been going on since Reagan proposed/created the NED and the Democratic party has been going along with scarcely a whisper of dissent.

The Chinese are just following along!

25. We've become a 3rd world country. If foreign powers control our elections we're no better than
some Latin American countries. The right no matter which country they come from are always ready to cater to big business and export jobs while catering to big corporations. The left is truely the nationalists around the world . The only time the right really used nationalism is when it come to flag waving and starting wars. The left is nationalistic when it comes to everything else especially things like taking care of the people.
