If we win in November

If we win in November it will be because we moved to the center.

And if we lose in November it will be because we didn't move to the center.

And if we tie it will be because we only moved halfway to the center.

But one thing you can bank on...

This election will be said to be a vindication for Evan Bayh and Harold Ford types the nation 'round.

2. We delude ourselves if we believe most of America is on the far left

as much as the Teahadists delude themselves in believing most of America is on the far right and agrees with them.

Ultimately it's the center which decides elections. I still remember casting my first presidential vote for George McGovern. I hope we don't make that mistake again because it's the winner who decide the direction the country goes, not the most politically pure or correct. Life sucks and reality is a harsh mistress.
