A vote for an honest, unbiased, neither right nor left leaning, media.

I will also bet it is a vote that would be near unanimous.

1. I was trying to explain
"real journalism" to my 11 yo this morning.

About "reporting the news" WITHOUT "spin". To lay out the facts - all of them, just information without commentary or bias. . .

he doesn't "believe anyone does that."

I think he's right. :(

2. "near unanimous"? If you are confining the vote to DU, I agree. But, if we put that question to
the population at large, I'd look for the "no" votes to be at least 40% of the total.

Wanting an "honest, unbiased, neither right nor left leaning" media denotes integrity and that quality is just not present in the "Party of Lincoln" or the "Party of Palin". They like the media just the way it is: under their thumb.

5. i would argue that this exists and in English
the BBC and the Guardian are pretty darn good about not taking sides, presenting events and letting their readers decide for themselves.

7. Unfortunately, their share of the market, on a pie chart, would be a single line
That is, it it registered at all.

8. any unbias media would be left leaning
because the right is non-fact based and constantly lying. An unbiased media would constantly have to be reporting this. An unbiased media would thus be by default a left of center entity because facts have a liberal bias :)
