20 papers won't print Non Sequitur cartoon for just mentioning Mohammed
Some newspapers chose instead to run a Sunday replacement strip featuring the recurring character Obvious-Man. So what was the editorial thinking behind the choice?

"I have absolutely no information on why any of the editors chose not to run it," "Non Sequitur" creator Wiley Miller tells Comic Riffs. "All I can do is surmise that the irony of their being afraid to run a cartoon that satirizes media's knee-jerk reaction to anything involving Islam bounced right of their foreheads. So what they've actually accomplished is, sadly, (to) validate the point."

"Non Sequitur" is syndicated by Universal UClick. The syndicate's Sue Roush tells Comic Riffs that about 20 newspapers inquired about the option of a replacement comic but that as of Friday, Universal UClick did not know which papers would actually use the surrogate comic.
...
The Washington Post chose to run the "Where's Muhammad?" comic in its online edition but not in its Sunday print funnies, running an "Obvious-Man" replacement. Spokeswoman Kris Coratti said The Post had no comment on that decision.

All characters in the cartoon have normal western dress, and there's really no way of saying any of them is meant to be Mohammed.

1. Perhaps someone should point out that...
Muhammad is now second only to Jack as the most popular name for baby boys in Britain and is likely to rise to No 1 by next year, a study by The Times has found. The name, if all 14 different spellings are included, was shared by 5,991 newborn boys last year, beating Thomas into third place, followed by Joshua and Oliver.

4. There was the British teacher put in a Sudanese jail for calling the class teddy Muhammad
which was after one of the boys in the class:

The mother-of-two was sentenced to 15 days in jail for insulting Islam after letting her six- and seven-year-old pupils give a class teddy bear the name of the Islamic prophet.
...
She was released yesterday after a diplomatic mission by the British Muslim peers Lord Ahmed and Baroness Warsi secured a pardon from the Sudanese president, Omar al-Bashir.
...
On Friday thousands of protesters, many carrying knives and sticks, took to the streets of Khartoum, Sudan's capital, complaining that Gibbons's sentence was too lenient. Chanting "Shame, shame on the UK", they called for Gibbons's execution, saying "No tolerance, execution" and "Kill her, kill her by firing squad".

She was arrested on Sunday in Khartoum after allowing her class of primary school pupils to name the teddy bear in September.

Muhammad is a popular name in mainly Muslim Sudan, and a boy in Mrs Gibbons class has said he suggested to the class the teddy bear be named after himself.

It loads about 4/5th of the way, then stops.

14. I thought Muhammad was the dog with the big toothy smile.
He's the one who drinks beer, eats pizza, and watches TV in the time before Eve. I took it as a play on "Where's Waldo". I could be wrong about the dog's name, but that's just what immediately came to mind.

As for the outhouse, that has to be Eddie in there.
