One Nation rally energizing liberals

Progressive groups hope to draw tens of thousands of supporters to the Mall on Saturday and create a show of force that will rival the conservative tea party movement.

The One Nation Working Together march is the culmination of months of planning begun by civil rights organizations and labor unions. In recent weeks, more than 400 supporting groups have signed on to the rally, which is to span four hours and feature speeches, poetry and musical entertainment.

NAACP President Benjamin Jealous, a lead organizer of the event, has said it will be the most "diverse march in the nation's history."

1. Watching Free Speech Channel & He Said That Their Organization Alone
had more than 2,000 busses coming in. And They are only ONE organization among MANY. May THIS RALLY FOR JOBS, dwarf the Tea-Baggers al la BECK!

2. Hmmm...
Rallies like this one will be feel good events and honestly nothing more.

Sad but true.

6. While organizers should have ways to get people to be active after the rally
anything that helps us feel good to be lefties these days goes a long way, imo.

7. Your cynicism is not unappreciated, but more comes from 'feeling good' than just 'feeling good'.
Humans are kind of neat that way. Synergy was something people picked up on very quickly... even before we were ever really sapient. At events like this one, many powerful things take place;

-People network and create strong and effective associations to further various goals.

-Attendees experience strong reinforcement of their convictions and leave more inclined toward action.

-Those of us who cannot or do not attend are more encouraged that action is taking place, and thereby find greater resolve to act.

These are a handful of the important results of such an effort. There are many more.

10. There is just one problem...
Nothing that happened at this Rally is going to make a damn difference in the
unemployment figures today, tomorrow, next week, or a month from now.

Lets say for the sake of argument that we do prevail this November. YAY! Everyone
high-five.

If you still don't have a job, big F'in deal. WOW!!! My side won the election and
I'm still unemployed, getting my house foreclosed, covered in debt. We WON!!!

Spare me. How is President Obama, through his administrations actions, bringing
America back to work? Where are the jobs? Why aren't companies hiring? WHY?

11. You either understood nothing I said, or
You are deliberately shifting away from the point.

Or both.

Either way, your cynicism is utterly foolish in this case. You cannot argue against the rally having effects and affecting change, so you're suggesting what?

Check the supports and water level while you're under there.

9. Feeling Good for the Democrats equals voter turnout!
This election will be based on voter turnout, that's it that's all.

Were all of the political events for candidate Obama just feel good gatherings? No, they weren't. They got folks fired up and ready to vote.

This event was very important, one to shut the damn right and the MSM up about us not being motivated.

It is time for the members that support this Democratic administration to show strength in numbers at these events and at the polls.

Never underestimate the power of like mindedness and will.

The other significant point of this rally was that the crowd was diverse. Becks rally not so much.....The Republicans goal is to divide us by race, sexual orientation, employed/unemployed, wealthy/poor etc...this rally destroys their tactic.
