Cleveland Clinic…

You may recall that I bit my tongue a while back and that I basically ruined a great night at my sisters’ house when I started to bleed. Trouble was it would not stop. For over an hour my sister was packing my mouth with a clotting agent.

Why? Because I was put on Plavix, the popular anti-coagulant prescribed for people who have clogged arteries. Remember they found blockage when they did the heart catheterization that is a required test in the transplant process.

1. That must be a huge relief, to be off that drug...
Your efforts to improve your health are really paying off.

Congratulations!

3. I'm sure that Plavix has it's place in the pharmaceutical arsenal,
but it is my opinion that it is not good for prolonged periods of time. My mother had a blood clot episode which resulted in a Plavix prescription. That wasn't revisited until overly-thin blood started to cause problems. It seems to me that it may not be indicated for long term treatment. Of course, I'm no doctor, just a layman's observation.

Anyway, I am glad it's not in your regimen any more. Congratulations!
