Washington (CNN) -- The Department of Defense recently purchased and destroyed thousands of copies of an Army Reserve officer's memoir in an effort to safeguard state secrets, a spokeswoman said Saturday.

"DoD decided to purchase copies of the first printing because they contained information which could cause damage to national security," Pentagon spokeswoman Lt. Col. April Cunningham said.

So every hostile intelligence agency will get a copy from somewhere but people who prowl the remainders section at the book-store will be protected...

If they didn't get all of them then this is up there with asking for the originals of the wikileaks documents back

3. There were names of people mentioned as well who could be targeted
I have no problem with not listing names of informants. It had already been approved so it sounds more like an excess of cover your butt stupidity or someone on a power trip. If it's like weakileaks there is nothing important but it will be good for free publicity and sales

9. Their budget should be reduced 200% for every improper spending.
If they spent $200k for improper purpose the amount they spent would be reduced $400k in the next budget.
