When Hawaii's public education system went through furlough Fridays 17 charter schools did not.
“While most of the 31 charter schools managed to find innovative ways to minimize the impact of furloughs, including 17 charter schools that did not take any furlough days, they should not be penalized and need extra funds to avoid furloughs in the coming school year,” Lt. Gov. James R. “Duke” Aiona, Jr. said.

1. Did the charter operators give back?

How much do you want to bet that the teachers worked without pay under threat, explicit or implicit, of getting fired if they didn't?

3. Points to question
1) What were those innovative ways the charter schools used to avoid furloughs? Betcha they were smoke and mirrors.

2) How many students that had enrolled in a charter school and then were released and then needed to enroll in a public school after the deadline for determining the funding? Which results in the charter school receiving funding for students that went back to public school.

3) Does the governor have a conflict of interest as a result of anyone on her staff or in her family having connections to the charter schools. (Meaning bribery)
