The Republican party may have shot their load too soon.
All the polls are starting to show that the overwhelming "mandate" the GOP was preening about like a cock of the walk is starting to evaporate as the serious people start to look at what it is that the GOP does(n't) really stand for.
It's one thing to get retirees out en mass to make it appears as if the street are choked with anti-government activists and another thing to convince the non committal that no is a viable political strategy.
Personally, I think while the GOP was out stirring up their base they have turned off a whole bunch of Independent voters.
Now, with president Obama out campaigning, the tide is starting to turn. He needs to keep it up, force the GOP to make votes that they will regret.
I, for one, was starting to get a little worried about the outcome of this falls election but I also know that this time isn't 1994. New districts had been drawn as the GOP captured the state redistricting process. This won't be a factor this time around.
The Democrats seem to be taking the threat seriously so that is another thing going for the good guys.
I just see the tide starting to turn, that people are getting to know people like Glenda up there in Rhodie Island and are starting to think that the GOP has a very large contingency of banana wacko's on their bench.
I could be completely off base but I don't think so.
If the president coordinates with the congressional Dem's and they fight back with progress, it will be an interesting mid term.
