6. This brings to light a disadvantage to Standard time.
Until the end if Daylight Saving Time, the
CBS football schedule bumps Face The Nation to 5pm MST.

a little context is required.

5. "Punished" waaaaahhh, poor him. How about--
he, as with others of his class, are going to be required to do their part to help rescue this country from an economic crisis because only they can? He *does* want to help his country, doesn't he? Why does Ben Stein hate America?

And it's not even like he's going to be turned upside-down 'til nickels come out of his nose--it's just a restoration of a previous tax rate. Sounds like whining--but then, he often does.

9. Taxes are the price we pay for civilization, whistledick!
Would you rather pay out-of-pocket for a private security force to protect your skeevy ass from hungry, marauding hordes with nothing to lose - which is the inevitable result of the anarchistic paradise you envision - not unlike the current state of affairs in Somalia, for example.

12. ROFL! Try paying an increased payroll tax for 27 years & having the deficit hawks raise your benefit
age 7 years before you thought you would be finished slaving your life away. Then we'll talk punishment! That there's what I call being punished. Ben can STFU.

18. Somebody might want to bring up the
word "sacrifice" to him. It's amazing to me that when the chattering classes natter on about how Americans need to sacrifice, they are only referring to those already at the bottom. Never, never themselves or their ilk.

27. All those people who think
that just because they currently don't have kids in the public school system, they should be exempt from school taxes totally and completely miss the idea behind public schools. And even if you personally went to a private school or were home-schooled all the way, and you don't have and will never have children, the good of our society as a whole depends on strong public schools.

For what it's worth, my sons wound up in a private school, and I was often very unpopular with the other parents because I frequently said that I should not be exempt from penny one of school taxes. I understood how phenomenally fortunate we were to have found that school in the first place, and how incredibly lucky that my children's grandparents were willing to help us out with the cost. In fact, what I best understood through that experience is how woefully our schools are underfunded. I know what their tuition was, and it was about thirty percent higher than what our public school district got per child. And at that, the private school needed to raise additional money to pay for everything. The cost of a good education is not cheap.

I realize that doesn't mean he has Warren Buffett's bank account, but it's kind of hard to work up any tears for Mr. Stein.

24. He does nothing but spew and he gets a big fat check for it.
He contributes nothing of value and he still gets paid for it. Then he whines on the Sunday Morning Show about having his tax rate go back to where it was during the Clinton years and he gets paid for whining. His check for that laugh riot on TV would probably cover his tax increase. Unless, he does this for nothing? Nahh!

CBS pays him for that drivel. I suggest that they unemploy him so he would't have to make so much money to tax.

Whining. I felt so sorry for him that I wanted to send him som money.
