What's with the overload on bacon? Now bacon INSIDE the burger

I was in the mood for some bacon and decide to go overboard with the “Ultimate Bacon” ($11.45 includes fries) which includes bacon inside the meat as well as on top with cheese and slathered with maple bacon mayo. Nom Nom Nom, pig-a-licious.

Because I love myself a good medium-rare burger. As much as I love bacon, if it took away my ability to have the burger cooked to order, I'd just put it on top.

deluxe burger from jack in the box, based on a picture on the menu. When I looked at this gargantuan burger, I swear I could feel my arteries contracting and I couldn't eat more than a bite of it.... It was just too much and I really felt sick. As pissed as I was to be throwing away something that was that expensive, there were no doggies in sight that might enjoy the treat and it was too hot for it to survive hours in the car.

Maybe my "inner" guilt alarm has finally gone off. Finally. ;)

I've had to cut back on meat a lot, so now when I have some I indulge completely in the best and then savor it.

The best part is I dropped 25 pounds from it.

But oh, yes, indeed, I do so love good bacon, OMG.

It grows in the bacon groves of Wisconsin, I think. They should be celebrating the bacon harvest soon.

31. The Food Network has brainwashed the masses into thinking
that EVERYTHING, including ice cream, tastes better with bacon on it or in it (it's said on that network nearly daily).

Never mind that between the Jews, the Muslims and the people who don't eat pork for dietary reasons/restrictions or who are vegetarians/vegans are nearly as numerous as those who live in the pork-eating world.

(I'm allergic to pork, myself, and I think that's a good thing. Can't eat the fattening, slimy crap.)

33. Just read all the posts and it seems I was dead-on accurate.
All these people claiming bacon is the bestest, bestest, bestest food EVAH!!! No one EVER used to say "everything tastes better with bacon" until the Food Network people started saying it all the time.

And to many of us - probably as many of us, if not more - bacon isn't the best tasting food ever. Chocolate is. :)

Now, I did salivate at the above mention of avocados (until I got to the bacon crap).

:puke:

I still contend that the vast majority of Americans swilling in swine have been brainwashed. Bacon is really not that great of a food. I eat turkey bacon on occasion, but I haven't eaten a bite of pork in 15 years and haven't missed it - or that fat globule taste (ewwww I hate meat fat - it's so SLIMY - gross - I'm cringing thinking about it! :puke: ).

58. Actually, it's not "discusting..."
It's really quite tasty!
The bacon and the chocolate are balanced quite nicely, neither overwhelming the other.
And it doesn't taste fatty, so you don't have to worry about that.
I like chocolate with sea salt, and this isn't even as salty as some of those bars can be.
But you'll never try it... more for me!

40. Part of that has to do with the salt.
Salt actually triggers taste buds to make them more active. A tiny bit of salt in a lot of recipes will make flavors more acute. That's why there is sodium in soda pop, and even salt in ice cream.

The salt in the bacon makes the other tastes in the sandwich taste better.

44. It will surprise you to note that I was born and raised and still
live in the South. In Tennessee, to be exact.

My northern-reared husband tells me, when it comes to food, I am the most unSouthern Southerner he's ever met. I don't eat pork. I don't like fried foods (with the ONE exception of fried chicken, but I have to be either pregnant or expecting Aunt Flo to really crave it). I don't like vegetables boiled to death. I don't like fried green tomatoes.

That said... I do like cornbread (NO SUGAR) and biscuits, but I like only low-fat butter or jam on them - no sausage gravy. :)

51. Well, hydee, neighbor!
I refuse to let anyone (over)cook vegetables for me, either. I know that's The Standard Southern Way, but I'm just not accustomed to eating vegetables thru a straw. I don't want everything cooked with a hunk of "streak-o-lean" (read: "slab-o-fat") in it and not EVERYTHING needs to be cooked in bacon grease.

Past that, I'm pretty open. I even (finally) learned to tolerate fried green tomatoes. I haven't tried putting one on a bun, with bacon and chocolate sauce, yet.:-)

I'm in the Midwest, so I've seen them all over. There is a very good butcher near me and they make the tastiest baconburgers. They use quality meat, which is probably why they are so good. I don't eat one every day, either. I get them once or twice a year for special cookouts. Just proof that I could never be a vegetarian. :9
