After Primary Victory, An Easy Win for Rep. Charlie Rangel in November
He is predicted to win easily in November. His constituents, unlike some of the inside DC crowd, stand by the man who stood by them for so many years.

The people have spoken and they have kicked the political insiders dire predictions into the trash where they always belonged.

War Criminal Tony Blair, unable to sell his lies in Britain and Ireland, will be greeted here like a British Monarch.

But a true American War hero like Charlie Rangel was not even given a chance to defend himself, before being asked to 'resign' by the usual, scared-of-what-the-Right-might-think-of-us Democrats.

As always, Charlie Rangel hit the nail on the head after his victory last night:

Rangel Easily Defeats Five Primary Rivals

He also reaffirmed his commitment to the president’s agenda.

“In the time we are at in our history, President Obama needs people like me more than ever,” Mr. Rangel said. “I’ll go back to tell the president, ‘You don’t need those Republicans, and there are a lot of Democrats who got elected, but they vote Republican.’ ”

Mr. Rangel was presented with a victory cake, a gift from Aretha Franklin.

The last time Mr. Rangel faced a serious primary challenge was in 1994, when he defeated Mr. Powell, who was then a councilman, 61 percent to 33 percent. He has otherwise cruised to re-election.

In the general election, Mr. Rangel will face a Republican, Michel J. Faulkner, a minister who founded the New Horizon Church of New York in Harlem, and Craig Schley, 46, a former intern for Mr. Rangel, who is running on the Independence Party line.

He got that right! “I’ll go back to tell the president, ‘You don’t need those Republicans, and there are a lot of Democrats who got elected, but they vote Republican.’ ”

A lot of Democrats who vote Republican. We need hundreds more like Rangel who will stand up to Republicans, not shudder in fear of them or compromise Democratic principles for some kind of imaginary bi-partisan support.

Go Charlie! :applause:

2. Thank you. It disgusts me to see Democrats
treat these war criminals with such respect, and then turn around and betray a great Democrat like Rangel. He slammed draft-dodger Dick Cheney publicly when everyone else was scared to death of him. But then Charlie is a REAL War Hero who has Real Medals, that were EARNED in combat.

I am so thrilled he did not take their stupid advice to 'quit'. He's no quitter, never was ... and I am glad he'll be back in Congress fighting for the people he represents.

3. Republicans were salivating at the thought of Rangel
losing. Some Democrats did not cave in to their demands to return Rangel's money when Republicans called on them to do so last March.

Warning, this is a rightwing site as you can tell by the headline:

Disgrace: Hodes And Shaheen Won't Return Tainted Rangel Donations

Good for them. And shame on the cowards who run in fear every time Republicans crack their little whips.

4. Mmm, a lot of people here apparently would prefer to censor any news of
Charlie Rangel. And then people wonder why no one trusts the political process anymore. Charlie will win in November. Maybe those who are upset about a Democrat retaining his seat should concentrate on those who are in trouble. Rangel never was despite all the dire predictions by the rightwing, and the rightwing of the Democratic Party.

10. I think we have some 'Teahadists' here. They definitely fear a
real fighting Dems like Rangel. Looks like he foiled them once again. They've been after him for years.

Go Charlie! I love it when a real Dem makes Rightwingers go insane

9. Thank you AnArmyVeteran
And I bet they are same people who rant about 'supporting Democrats'. Rangel is a Democrat, one of the best and one who fought publicly against the Bush Administration when so many others remained silent.

I knew he would not quit nor should he. Supporting Democrats means that to me. Especially those who have a spine.

I have a feeling those charges will disappear once the attempt to knock another real Dem out, fails. These charges could have been made against at least half of Congress but it is the Black Caucus who have been targeted. And we have people calling themselves Democrats willing to back down, once again. No wonder we never get anything done.

11. The biggest enemy of the democrats are the democrats.
Drmocrats had a golden opportunity in 2008 to enact sweeping changes to help repair the damages from the previous 8 years and to chart a new, bold direction for our country. They had in their hands one of the biggest mandates from the people in more than 25 years. But because of lack of cohesion they allowed almost every bill to be watered down to the point where most of what was passed became virtually worthless. It's obvious democratic leaders weren't representing either their party or the people who worked so hard to put them into office. And because of the way they blew so many golden opportunities they are in danger of losing control of one or more houses of congress this November. Sadly, squandering opportunities by giving in to the republican enemy seemed to become their 'battle cry'.

We the people expected more. We deserved more.

12. Couldn't agree more.
Fear of Republicans, assuming that's what it is, is destroying Democrats. Interesting too that Timmy Geithner who admitted to deliberately not paying SS taxes for his employee, was still approved by Congress. And the same people who ask Rangel to step down are silent on Geighner's tax evasion problems. Shows you who we have running things. Clearly Geithner doesn't like SS, nor does Bernanke and these are the people we are asked to trust with our interests.

I would trust Rangel any day above those who are currently running the Treasury Dept. Tax evasion is not a crime if you are a Goldman Sachs representative. Because that is why they represent. Range represents US and always has. He could have been a very rich man had he gone through the revolving door so many others have gone through. He could have used his years in Congress to become a lobbyist eg. Instead he stayed where he was so that he could fight for those who elected him.

13. I agree about Rangel. I've always liked him and he has always fought for the little guy.
It's sickening how insiders who helped to destroy our economy are the same ones advising the president, and not one Wall Street criminal has been charged or is in jail. If I was Obama I would have appointed an Elliot Ness type character to go thru Wall Street with the Feds like a wrecking crew and put hundreds of white collar criminals in prison. But in this country the more you steal the less the punishment you get. And if you steal enough and destroy enough lives you aren't punished at all.

And no one in leadership positions in the government ever tried to even prevent Wall Street criminals from giving themselves billions in bonuses, even though they were complete failures and criminals. It's hard to believe until you understand Obama surrounded himself with crooked Wall Street thugs who had no intention of holding their financial buddies on Wall Street accountable. I wish Obama had selected tough, career prosecutors to go after Wall Street thugs. All the American people would have supported him if he was harsh on Wall Street. But Obama gave all of them get out of jail passes. Inexcusable!
