Christine O'Donnell to GOP establishment: Screw you

From Greg Sargent's morning plum:
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/plum-line/

* Christine O'Donnell to GOP establishment: Screw you: Whoa. In a clear sign of the GOP intra-party war to come after Tea Party-backed Christine O'Donnell's shocking victory in the Delaware Senate primary, O'Donnell gave a stunning interview a few moments ago on Good Morning America, beating GOP leaders over the head with her victory and claiming they have their "pride hurt this morning."

O'Donnell also effectively called Karl Rove, who opposed her candidacy, a liar and a "so-called political guru" who's now eating "humble pie."

"I believe that we can win without them," O'Donnell said, when asked by George Stephanopoulos about the opposition of GOP leaders to her candidacy. "We proved the so-called experts wrong. So I think a few of them perhaps may have their pride hurt this morning. But I didn't count on the establishment to win the primary. I'm not counting on them to win the general."

Asked about Rove's various claims about her background, such as allegedly misleading voters about her college education, O'Donnell took a scorching shot at the architect of George W. Bush's two presidential victories. "Everything he's saying is unfactual. He's the same so-called political guru that predicted I wasn't going to win. And we won, and we won big. So I think he's eating some humble pie."

How gracious! Suffice it to say O'Donnell doesn't have much of an interest in going through the usual ritual of post-primary healing. A clear sign of what's to come...

1. Here's the thing. You can only get away with that message if you have tons of your own money
and you don't need the financing of the RNC. Or if you don't care if you win the general election b/c you're just happy you won the primary.

2. She's delusional
That explains it.

The Koch brothers will probably save her.

3. I imagine that there are some legitimate sincere Christians that enter political office

but O'Donnell definitely isn't one of them.

Her conduct during the campaign including the implication that Castle was homosexual shows that she has neither honor, integrity or good character. I wouldn't be surprised if opposition research comes out with something during the campaign that shows her to be a complete fraud.

7. We have a chance to set the GOP back decades
After big loses in 2006 and 2008, the GOP began an internal fight for the soul of the party.

Democrats need to recognize the opportunity that sits before them. If we were to mobilize and vote big in 2010, we could break the GOP's back.

If we crush the Tea Party candidates and hold the House and Senate, the GOP's internal strife would explode. The crazy far right, and the slightly less crazy right, would spend the next election cycle blaming each other for these failures.

Passing our legislation would get much easier, as the GOP's influence would be diminished.

But I don't know if we on the left are smart enough to figure this out. Hope we are.

8. I find this all very interesting...
So, the neocon Fascists like Rove claim to be on the side of the tea partiers--but they really don't
want those candidates to win.

This entire situation highlights a big problem for both Democrats AND Republicans. The system is so corrupt
and so entrenched in corporate interests--that any outsider is unwanted. You must be corrupt and firmly
entrenched in the mafia-like behavior to get elected. If not--if you're not one of them--then they can't
trust you.

GOPers like Rove and the rest of the criminal gang are only using the tea partiers. They know that these people
are gullible and that they are easily persuaded and that they vote in high numbers. So, they'll string them
along--but when one of their people is not corrupt enough--they'll kick them to the curb.

Yes, O'Donnell is a loon. However, aren't most of their candidates? I mean, really! Since when does the
GOP cabal have problems with people who are loony toons? Their people have diaper fetishes and that doesn't
seem to bother them.

The crux of this is--they'll cover for you if you can be "turned" and if you'll participate in destroying
our democracy. If not--you'll be eviscerated.

When will the tea partiers realize that the political establishment doesn't give a shit about their agenda?
They are being used for their votes, but the corruption will continue even if they do gain a majority.

11. Surely one of her handlers will gently point her toward reconciliation.
Her loss is absolutely guaranteed without the visible support of the GOP dinosaurs.

12. She wins either way. When she loses................
she will now have a promising TV/lecture career waiting for her and she will laugh all the way to the bank.............That is, if a sex tape doesn't come out.

13. We spend way too much time fixated on the right’s weaklings
I have seen this before here and other places where progressives gather. When the right has a candidate that is as obviously defective as O’Donnell, the left becomes absolutely fixated on it. For every O’Donnell, the right has a hundred other candidates just as bat shit crazy, but will be far more formidable at the polls. Enjoy the fact that the right has put up a pig in Delaware that no spin campaign can overcome, but let us not lose our focus in the process.
