Mitch McConnell: wealthy have been "hit hardest" by the recession
This should become a killer democratic ad, contrasting these words by McConnell against data which clearly show that unemployment in the upper incomes are actually nearly unaffected by the recession, while lower incomes have been devastated. Thanks Mitch!

http://chattahbox.com/us/2010/09/14/mcconnell-richest-americans-hit-hardest-by-recession-video/

(ChattahBox Political News)—Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) knows which side his bread is buttered on. Yesterday the Minority Leader delivered an impassioned speech on the senate floor, supporting tax cuts for the richest Americans. He reminded his colleagues that our country has been hit hard from a deep recession. And who in America has been suffering the most? The rich. What about the poor and middle class who have lost their homes, lost their jobs and are now making weekly trips to food banks to feed their families? You know, the same people who Republicans have attacked as lazy hobos. No, sorry. According to McConnell, people making over $250,000 a year are “the people who’ve been hit hardest by this recession.”

129. Dumber than dumb
Is a pretty accurate description of most Republican voters and their Tea Party offshoot. The down side is that it can also describe some Democrats as well.

An example:"You shouldn't be penalized for making a good living," said Charles Ricotta, 55, a Democrat from Dunkirk, N.Y. "If you feel the government is cutting your throat, you might feel hesitant about hiring people."

54. if our fine democratic leaders...
actually gave a damn about those hard hit by the economy, they wouldn't have debated over whether to cut food stamps to give teachers a pay raise. True dems would have found ways to do both. Where to get the money? Hmmm, I know- get the fuck out of Iraq and Afghanistan. We haven't got out of the former, and we will NEVER defeat the latter.

An army of us, carrying torches and pitchforks, would be converging on the Senate today with a cart to haul Mitch off to the guillotine.

That statement rivals "let them eat cake!" for its utter out-of-touchiness.

This is a gift that's been handed to the Democrats in the middle of an election season. If we don't capitalize on it we deserve whatever happens to us.

97. My point is that neither one should have been close enough to steal in the FIRST place.
The fact that the first one was blatantly stolen by a stacked SCOTUS intervening out of their bounds in a state decision pretty much negates both of the Failure Fuhrer's terms. What's sad is that enough people voted against their own interests to make each "election" close enough to steal. Americans are slow learners and make decisions that kill this country's progress way too often.

This is why, even though we may not like our candidates, we still cannot let these whackjobs win. All it's going to take is just ONE more, and this country will be buried.

142. Actually, when the Consortium and several other organizations took a very long hard look at Florida,
they found the vote count really wasn't that close at all. Long before one ballot was ever cast or counted, Jeb Bush* and Cruella de Harris had illegally removed TENS OF THOUSANDS of legal voters from the Florida voting roles. We now know that persons removed from the roles were disproportionately from Democratic-leaning precincts. We also know that further voter cherry-picking occurred against non-Cuban descent Latinos, who tended to vote Democratic, as opposed to the Cuban Latino population that tended to vote republican and high favorable Bush* name recognition. And this was just one tactic OF MANY designed to marginalize Democratic voters. Just one. There were also numerous incidents of voter suppression, including voter caging, intimidation and outright threats. There was an entire arsenal of dirty tricks used long before any votes were ever cast.

My point? The stealing of Florida in Selection 2000 was a carefully engineered process taking several years to bring to fruition. And part of that fruition was to give the impression that the vote count was much closer than it actually was, allowing the criminal bastards to feign an air of legitimacy--"well the vote was actually really close." And with little to no potent challenges to the actual legitimacy of the electoral infrastructure and process, it was only a hope, skip and a jump to the second portion of Selection 2000, which was actually stealing the election. And when all the dirty tricks did not bring home desired result, they had to play the final trump card--or all five of them, as it were: A brutally-partisan SCOTUS, who in an illegal ruling so fucking laughable even they said it could not be used future precedent, stopped the legitimate vote count and handed the pResidency to George W. Bush*.

Your point: "...neither one should have been close enough to steal in the FIRST place." True. And in all truth, probably weren't, but were manipulated to appear to be so.

Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one out there like this. My abusive backwoods educated stepfather (republican voting retired military asshole) gave this to me and my ignorant mother didn't help. I finally had to physically fight him back @ 16 and got kicked out of the house.

These type of people are golden to the GOP more importantly because they perpetuate ignorance and disinformation. My current father in law who seems to be a nice man and is Mormon is a complete ego maniac. He seriously thinks people should fall in line when he open his hole and imparts his foolish wisdom. He won't vote anything else but the republican ticket. We had a falling out and I don't talk to him at all anymore and I feel so much better.

Thank you for your mail, it really, really made my day.

Wel, if I was able to wote in US, I would have woted liberal, regardness of what someone else had told me.. Becouse I think that my woting habit is my own, and no one should say what to do, and not what to do... But then, Im pretty sure that its difference between LDS in utah, and LDS in Norway, where peopole for the most is far more liberal, than I guess even liberal in US are... If you read our government list for the last 60 or so year, you would be suprised who have been sitting there most, it have not be the conservatives... And I was excuminicated becouse of my woting record, so be it.. I would stand my ground inside or outside the church

And, Im are verry sorry about your PTSD, and your fear that your opportunity four you, and your childs future becouse of it (I really is) I know many from the shurch is rather dumb. I also fear for the future, but I hope for the best, for everyone with half a brain cell... I hope for a future where mainkaind as a whole, can live in prosperity, and peace.. And where you can be asured that your child/children wil have a great future, as we all would have... And where religiøs belive, or disbelive is a private thing that should not be played out by nut-cases.. Not every one Mormoner is as stupid as some of the more "conservatives" over there in US.. I am scared as hell about the religious right in US, and even tho I do not get it all, it sounds like US are really into some trouble for a long time now.. And it is sad, becouse US is a great country...

138. I lived in Utah and have relatives who are mormon
and, they're nice people-but just discussing religion and business with my boss who is mormon--the Mormon church very much is a corporatized organization. Just like Beck, my boss would get excited showing me these charts on corporate structure and how we don't need no stinking social safety net. Of course the church offers one, but you have to be mormon or attend church.

Now my cousins great, great grandfather was actually murdered by the mormons. You did not question church doctrine, and I remember one article, I believe in the Salt city weekly-had history of salt lake city--when the town was expanding, they had uncovered so many dead bodies, it was embarrassing. You did not question church doctrine or Brigham Young.

The further away from the main church, the more freedom and probably less political influence there is being a mormon. But, in Utah, as well as Nevada and Arizona,Idaho, the church has a very big say in your life. Like my boss told me his bishop told him that his wife shouldn't work and that he should tell her to quit working. My husband's cousin was brought in to the bishop in his ward at twelve years old and was told that he was not tithing enough (he mowed lawns). Or the incident in Utah, where a teenager was raped by a young man who was going on mission--the church influenced her to not press charges because it would ruin his life. And, there is a lot that the church attempts to suppress or handle that would otherwise be a criminal matter It also depends on who you are and what family your from. My supervisor once worked at one of the mormon clothing manufacturing businesses, he was let go because they told him he was not "worthy" enough.

Utah is a repug stronghold--there's a joke there about elections-who is going to be the democrat? The one with the shortest straw is the democrat. The only saving grace is that SLC has some more progressive people, that's how they elected a progressive mayor-but the outlying areas are very strong mormon and repug.

newspeak

I do not doubt your knowlegde about how things work in Utah, I have read a lot of it lately, and im somewhat ashamed it can be doing, in the same church I am member off... I know mr Beck is member of the church too, and I would say, quit public here, he is a shame for the church, and should be told to be quit, and get medical help... But many like him, and "need" the word he is talking, and want to play it that way

I know the church have a "social safty net" of sorts, but in Norway we have a decent public welfare system, so I am not sure that consept is used here, as we alleready have a public healtcare, who can help you in most of your problems.. Was to the doctors this evening in fact, for a little illness I have. bloodwork and recept, NKR 275,- or like 46,94 US dollar.. No hidden fees, no bill in the post... And the recept I got, wil maybe cost me something like NKR 300,- or like 51,02 US dollar Mostly becouse it is half paid for by the county, and the public healt care system... For some reason, i think I wil stick with my public founded healt care, rather than the Church welfare, if I had the shoice. And if americans was given a truthfull fact about how public founded healtcare really work, mr Moore was afraid of telling what Norway had of welfare system in Sico. Mostly becouse he was afraid to be accused of LYING to the american public... Then maybe americans could understand, that a public founded welfare system can work in US too... It work in every other sivilized country you can point to... Even in a few country where the founds is low, a public healt care system works out good...

I know a little about the church history in Utah, it is an ugly one, sometimes even a really shamefull one, who also have been pointed out by my bishhop one time it was up, as rather bad and sad... Not the churchs best times I'm afraid off...

I know about that the church is a big time of your life, if you are really conected to it. Have been some active in the church, but I have a little problem, I don't like been in a large crowd... Specailly in a social setting, i really dispaise the fact that I have to mingle with people I do not know a bit about, and who might not even want to talk to me.. I do not know where to keep my hands, and what to do, so often I try to hide in a corner, and is loking at people rather than mingle with them, a habit I have had since I was a little child. Im more comfortable with a small groups of friends, who I know, and who know Me.

I think the bishop should have been using some decent common sence, than to tell that he dosen't tith enough and was a bad person, for a 12 year young kid, that could be the difference between be a fightfull for the rest of his life, or maybe leave the church all togheter... And a 12 year boy, who is moving a lawnmover, can't get that a lot of money either.. He could stop mowing lawns, and play with his friends, rather than doing this, as I guess the summer in Utah can be hot and dry... This Bishop was just not using his brain properly, and should have been told that to.

Its wrong to rape, and then let go, becouse he should go to a mission.. One of the thing I understood of that, is that you have to have a "Moral compass" to do missionary work. And the last couple of years, it have been a lot stricter to be a missionary than it was before.. Even tho the news is little earatic when it came to light, many who have been less than stellar in their actions before the mission, have been told to reppent, and to wait for it, longer down the road... And If I was a Bishop, and it had come to my table that a young man had raped a young woman/girl, I would have handed it over to the police, regardness of what some influencal members have to say about it. Rape is Wrong, period. And it should be a long way from the man who was doing it, to came back to the fold he had to prove beyound doubt, that he reppent, not just to the church, but also by taking his responssiblity and go to the police and the cort system, to get the punishment according to the LAW..

My life, have discoverd one thing, that NO ONE is "not worthy" enough. regardness of what you do, what you belive in, and not belive in, you as an human is worth excactly the same..A person can be decent as few, regardness if they go to church regulary, or is little looser in his conection to the church. It is NOT by your attention into Church you should be make a standard for, but by your actions, inside and outside of the church! In Norway, a dissmissing like this would have ended up in the corts, with the employer on the loosing end, and a nice little money for the working man...

Then Salt Lake City are little more progresive than the countryside, and that is maybe somewhat of a hope?.. And not every member of the LDS are like some you might have encountred in Utah, or elsewhere.. It exist many hidden liberals out there too;)

151. I just wanted to say newspeak
Thanks for sharing. A lot of my wife's relatives live in Utah, it's awe inspiring country. Got to go rainbow trout fishing at Lake Strawberry or Strawberry Lake? I forget, it'd been a while.

How far is BYU from SLC? I'm glad SLC is progressive and frankly surprised given the situation and surroundings.

I've seen the PBS special about Mormons and actually sat down with missionaries and talked. Only because of a girl, but then they started slamming my religion and I'm thinking WTF!!?? Even though I don't practice I remember thinking "Who in the F do you think you are?".

My father in law thinks everyone should just fall in line when he has his "wisdom" to spread. The guys an ego maniac and I actually feel that I need to protect my little girl from his ignorance. It's a pain in the ass!

Now I do know there are people like you who actually wonder, and are curious, and get enlightened everyday and that's great, I wish everyone were like that, then we might not be in the mess we're in.

But what I really wanted to say was, I'm so sorry for shooting my mouth off and not being sensitive to the people that I know do think otherwise in the church. That's why I married my wife. I know I'm the lucky one in this relationship and have felt luckier and more fortunate as our time passes. She's the perfect mother to my little girl who'm I'd die without.

There's always a silver and gold lining and you are that.

Thank you and take care and hope to continue sharing with you. You are, as my 4 year old says, cool!

140. Thanks Diclotican
the one thing I do know is that everything is much different outside of the US. I was born and raised the first 5 years of my life in the Philippines and eventually moved to the states. Even in the Philippines the poor would always take care of each other, which was my experience. I had to live with my relatives cause I couldn't live at home as my newly minted stepfather might abuse me.

I lived here most of my life until I decided to become a US citizen and was really proud when that happened. Now, not so much with the proud anymore and more of the disbelief and despair.

I'm sorry to lump you in with all the LDS but here they are most certainly goose stepping to their leaders no matter what. They disregard facts available to them and simple critical thinking processes that would enlighten them. They are all of one mind and will follow their Nazi leaders to the end.

In another part of the world they might be different but if they all follow the same book, then I'm afraid they are more the same than different. Which is why I'm guessing you've been ex communicated. I know that is a horrible thing to go through and I'm sorry that's happened to you and I can't believe that is something God or Jesus (name your religious point man) would condone.

I believe that god loves us all, it's that simple. He didn't intend for us to be in some ridicules hierarchy system where some are "more special" than others. We are all his children and we should all be treated "special" not the just the select few. The hierarchy system is man's abomination on religion.

I'm glad you've taken the high road and voted your conscience, I stand with you and will always do the same here. Fortunately that leaves the whole republican ticket off my selection list.

Take care Diclotican and thank you for the kind words.

Many things is differnt outside US, and I guess, most of it have been more different the last 30 or so year, when US more or less turned right-right, and most of the rest of the world, turned middle of the road...Specailly after the cold war, where many american Reagan won, more or less singlehandled, by forcing the hand of Gorbatsjev something long from the truth. In fact Reagan, and Gorbatsjev feared the nuclear war enough, to get togheter, even as "enemies", and discovered that they might have something in common... Sting even made a song about the meeting of the two in 1986 in Reykjavik in Icland (I know the song, but haven't found it yet, and that sucks!, becouse it is a great song, even tho it had a scary video to it, but that was maybe the point?)

I can understand why you wanted to be a US citizen, in the past, to be member of US, was something greeat, something the lucky one, who had worked hard for it, and not to say, often sacrified a lot to came to. US was a world apart from the "old world" where a man with the will could rise from ashes, and be his own man, and maybe even a powerfull man in a generation, or two. And a lot of this histories, about relavtives who was making it big over there, also was given others the urge to leave the old world, for the new one. It was a country of hope, and prosperity, a free country, where you could belive what you want, and be what you want, regardness of old traditions, who was deep as old trees home... And I also understand your despair, as the country you wanted to be a part of, and love is turning to something totaly else, something that either want US to be, me on the outside, you on the inside;)

I am not ex-comunicated yet at least, but the few i know, know about what I belive in, but then, many members of LDS is posible far more "liberal" here in Norway, than in the US.. Mostly becouse the whole country is far more "liberal" than US is.. I belive that if a right-wing american was forced to live here, and also forced to be a member of the comunity, he would be either scared to hell, or maybe far more moderate when he was leaving Norway;).. I know my church in many things is conservative - and I agree to a degree with it, but on other points I am opposed as few. Like gay rights (who I belive should be the same as to hetro-sexcual) Or the womans right to control her own body... Or the idea of have a welfare system where everyone can get decent healtcare, regardness if you are rich, or poor...

God love everyone, regardness of what type of religion you have.. Judaism, Kristendom, Islam, Hindu, Budism, Shinto or whatever form, you are a creature of God, and should be treated as sutch.. I try my best to respect everyone I meet, regardness of their skin tone, or the origin of what they came from.. I might fail missrably time to time, some peopole I am more comfortable with than others, but I try my best, to be decent, to everyone I meet... One of my friends, is a ex member of the church, and we have some disagreement with the idea that the church is truth - but he still call me, and I him, and we have a conection there, who is larger than our disbelive or belif of the Church... And he is allways calling me "his favorite mormon" in a somewhat kind way, so I guess we are friends still;) I absolutely that everyone is childrens of God, and we, as cousins of sorts, should at least TRY to be good to eatch other... Again I somewhat fail missrable, but at least I try.... Again, and Again, and Again..

I wil ALLWAYS vote my consciences, regarness of what somewhat else claim, in Norway we have "secret ballots", and therefore I can vote what I want, and is sure that my vote also wil be counted. Mostly becouse the voting law in Norway is rather strict, and posible wil be stricter as flaws is discovered and fixed... It is not perfect, but wel better than in many other country I guess.. And I doubt we have had the "show" about voting like US had in 2000, who was a silly willy toon, where US was the lafthing stock of most of the world...

Take care yourself mr P, we have a bumpy road ahead of us, but I belive both us as humans, and mankind as sutch wil came into more peace down the road, when we discover that we are not that different after all... Peace with you and all your kind.. We need all the hope we can muster I am afraid.. The future is not to bright, but after the dark, the sun wil araise again, and we wil have hope

Anyone else notice that the whole "populism" thing the GOP was running on up 'til then went down the toilet at about that time? I guess they figure their spin-off party the faux-populist teabaggers, can handle that part of it.

This is red meat. Looking forward to the ad.

22. wtf? Mitch, define "hard"!
Compare:

A) Rich person sits at home brooding about loss of, say, $100K due to end of tax cuts for the rich.

B) Non-rich person sits at shelter worrying about loss of, say, $35K job & health benefits.

Mitch would use his calculator to tell him that 100K is bigger than 35K. But really:

Which one has lost everything?
Which one has more options?
Which one prefers the status quo?

And by the way, the rich person must CLEARLY be thinking, "How am I *ever* going to create jobs now??" :eyes:

P.S. It's not a "raise" in taxes, it's the end of a tax cut.

You can't argue that $100k > $35k

Especially with the teabaggers who talk about transit workers in NYC making $100k/yr as "fat cats" but $250k/yr is in need of Government tax cuts.

I wish you were right, but sadly no. They aren't even touched ever so slightly by the economy in their daily lives. Not at all.

The only thing they're cutting back on (if anything) is investing their money in overseas markets. Maybe they won't buy that island they've had their eye on, or that fantastic villa in the most expensive parts of the world.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

American companies are sitting on a pile of money -- Two Trillion Dollars -- $2,000,000,000,000.

That's enough to hire 20 million workers and pay them all $50,000 a year. This would bring unemployment down to 0%. It would stimulate demand because these people would SPEND their paychecks on food, clothing, furniture, cars, houses, entertainment, repairs, etc. Demand goes up, businesses will have to make more products, service companies will be in the black. The entire economy would start booming overnight and the money would flow UP to the rich -- as it always does, no matter what.

Even the rich will make out like bandits if they would just hire people with all that cash. They wouldn't even have to make them come to work, just pay them the check each month.

Note: what is $2 Trillion, you ask?
2,000 ...................................... Two Thousand

Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management and Capgemini Release 14th Annual World Wealth Report
Wealth Recovery Nearly Compensates for 2008 Losses -- HNWI Population Growing at 17.1 Percent While HNWI Wealth Reaches $39 Trillion

June 22, 2010, 10:30 a.m. EDT

<snip>

NEW YORK & PARIS, Jun 22, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- --Asia-Pacific Leads Emerging Wealth Recovery -- BRIC Countries Continue to Drive Regional Growth

The world's high net worth individuals (HNWIs)(1) regained ground despite weakness in the world economy, according to the 14th annual World Wealth Report, released today by Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management and Capgemini. The world's population of HNWIs returned to 10 million in 2009 and HNWI financial wealth increased, posting a gain of 18.9 percent to $39 trillion. Ultra-HNWIs(2) increased their wealth by 21.5 percent in 2009. These figures indicate that emerging wealth recovery has nearly recouped 2008 losses, returning to levels last seen in 2007.

"The last few years have been significant for wealthy investors. While in 2008 global HNWI wealth showed an unprecedented decline, a year later we are already seeing distinct signs of recovery, and in some areas a complete return to 2007 levels of wealth and growth," said Sallie Krawcheck, president, Global Wealth and Investment Management, Bank of America.

"The rebound has been, and will continue to be, driven by emerging markets -- especially India and China, as well as Brazil," said Bertrand Lavayssiere, managing director, Global Financial Services, Capgemini. "In fact, Asia-Pacific was the only region in which both macroeconomic and market drivers of wealth expanded significantly in 2009."

While the global HNWI recovery was generally stronger in developing nations, most of the world's HNWI population and wealth remained highly concentrated in the U.S., Japan and Germany, which together accounted for 53.5 percent of the world's HNWI population in 2009, down slightly from 54 percent in 2008. North America remains the single largest home to HNWIs, with its 3.1 million HNWIs accounting for 31 percent of the global HNWI population.

I was on a musicians' committee trying to negotiate a new contract with the board, of which the banker was president. He talked about how difficult things were financially, and how his family was not going to be able to take the vacation they had originally planned. They were going to have to settle for Aruba instead. The rich have no freaking clue.

I almost feel like laughing when I hear someone say that $250,000/year is not a lot of money if you live in an upscale neighborhood. I guess they figure people who make $50,000/year just shouldn't live there at all.

If the Dems use it the media will somehow spin it on the Dems.

If they don't use it they're inept fools though.

70. Let me get this straight...
The establishment conservative Republicans think they're the adults when it comes to managing a multi-TRILLION dollar economy, and yet they're out of touch with the net effects of a recession on the different social classes, they can't use their financial and institutional clout to stop the lunatic fringe from destroying their party, they can't stop Newt Gingrich from writing a sequel to Pim Fortuyn's Nutty Professor, and they're afraid of community centres, marijuana, and people travelling to Cuba.

Damn.

80. No, they're afraid of US. The 97% who get taken advantage of
to fund the rich's fabulous lifestyle. They think they deserve to have it all but they also know that once we wake up and see how they are using us, working us to death to squeeze every ounce of profit out of our labor, their little dream world will come crashing down.

If we ever wake up and realize that WE have the power to take back what they have stolen from us...

Storm the gates. Step 1 is to protect the congress and the White House so Democracy can be protected from the psychos on the right. Step 2, smash the walls of the rich and jail them all. Step 3, put them on trial for crimes against humanity. Step 4, sentence them to clean the trash off the freeway, sweep the streets, clean the ashtrays and shine our shoes for the rest of their lives, without possibility of parole. All their possessions and assets will be confiscated as ill-gotten gains from their crimes. Ban their progeny from holding public office or congregating in groups of two or more for 5 generations. Let them feel the powerlessness and isolation that their victims feel today. Justice will be served.

I've known several rich people in my lifetime and they are all thieves. They never pay their taxes, they run out on debts to contractors and service workers, they get their ass-kissing sycophants to clean up their messes or serve their jail time. As far as I am concerned you cannot get to be a millionaire without being a criminal. They are all guilty. But they will get a fair trial before being sentenced. Trust me.

72. Don't Wait For A Republican To Come Around
Use reconciliation to pass the tax bill. Sure it will expire in 10 years for the same reason the Bush tax cuts are expiring at the end of the year. This will put the Republicans on record as voting for higher taxes going into the November elections.

In the town where I grew up, there's some rich dude who built his house halfway up the side of the mountain. His mansion is visible a couple of miles away. So memorial day weekend, I took a drive up the road and found his driveway, guy gates his road a quarter of a mile from his house, with cameras. Mom says well what the hell, so we wave and flashed him peace signs. I was imensely curious who lived there.

Come to found out, when talking to my old friend from college that night, that her husband attends some church men's group there. They guy's well off, to put it lightly. I had some comments to say about paranoid wealthy people, and she says "well him and his sons take a hunting trip to Africa every year." :wow: Besides my revulsion at trophy hunting, I was floored that someone could afford something like that every year. I said as much, and she said to me... I kid you not.... "well they do try to live simply." Oh fuck you. What the hell do you know about living simply?? When you have to rob peter to pay paul to make sure your bills are covered because you had a cut in hours and deductions went up and EVERYTHING just costs more money, THEN you come talk to me about living simply. Asshole. When my friend tells me that he turns on lights on different sections of his property depending on whether he wants company, because like I said he's visible from two miles away, :wow: that makes you wealthy and out of touch with the working stiffs.

Had it out with my friend.... she's gone totally off the deep end. Tea Party Palinite, moved to Wasilla even. Not the same woman I knew in college. Among other things, this guy is someone she idolizes. I think it's cool that he built a successful business. I had it out with her because she idolized him for his money alone. I told her she could have all the damn money in the world and still be empty. It wasn't appreciated... I wonder why. :nopity:

106. I remember reading during the last recession ...
... that the average American lost 7% in their 401Ks, and billionaires gained only 2%.

Chances are the wealthy often sold high and converted their gains into nicer homes, cars, boats, art, etc., and the middle class left their money in place since it's their for retirement. So, there's no way the wealthy were hit harder.
