7. They are undergoing their own phase of what the Democratic Party did
from about 1970 - 1972 when McGovern was nominated and went down in flames.

9. I agree
And it was predicted. It was predicted that Bush would destroy the party and that they would meltdown in opposition of Obama.

can also shoot themselves in the foot...come hell or high water. And the riots at the Democratic Convention in '68, bringing us ol' tricky Dick for almost eight years.

10. Jeb Bush is probably the only one who could halt the
march of the lemmings straight off the cliff. I hope he doesn't run.

14. Why are the Dems so scared of this guy?
His name alone doesn't sink him?

15. His name ought to sink him. But he isn't W and has
an inside track to the big donors.

He'd certainly do better than Palin in the general election.

17. Arpaio is gunning for guv--and if he gets in, I'm getting out of my home of over 40 years.
I'm damn near there now.

20. I think the eventual nominee will be somebody "safe" like Mittens or Huckleberry.
Edited on Wed Sep-15-10 12:09 PM by Erose999
Palin will probably have an embarrassing gaffe early on and drop out, blaming her bad showing on the media.

Newt just isn't likable. No charisma (unless thats the name of his newest trophy wife). Much like Cheney, it is transparent that he's a snake. Like Cheney, he could be a contender for Veep because of his cunning etc.

Arapio is a loose cannon, and the big money donors don't like that kind of unpredictability. Much like Tom Tancredo in the 2008 election, he will enter but not be able to find funding outside of maybe the John Birch Society.

Jeb Bush... I think his name alone will repel moderates and independents. He will (rightly so) have a tough time differentiating himself from W. If he runs I expect him to finish the primaries mid-pack.
