It is time to Daschle John Boehner
He is what is wrong with America, the reason for everything bad. Now that is not entirely true but its based on a true story and seems like a winning approach to me.

1. Impossible.
Several differences.

First, Daschle was a senator. That means a statewide election rather than a narrow congressional district, which is likely gerrymandered in favor of the incumbent

Second, Daschle was in a mostly red state. Boehner's congressional district, Ohio's 8th, is not blue or even remotely purple. It has a Cook Partisan Voting Index of R+14, meaning the district went for the GOP in the last two presidential elections by an average of 14 points.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Boehner removed, but it's not feasible without redistricting.

3. Yeah, he's the House Minority Leader. Maybe I misunderstood your suggestion.
I thought you were suggesting that the Dems should take out Boehner in an election, just like the GOP did to Daschle in South Dakota by unseating him with the election of John Thune.

4. Nope, make him a symbol, i.e. "Daschle Democrats"

6. Ah. OK then.
Well, I think both "Daschle Democrats" and "Boehner Republicans" might be a little inside baseball for most voters, though I do agree that Boehner does sort of typify a certain strain of the GOP, that sort of golf, martinis and low taxes kind of thing.

5. He WILL be Speaker of the House if the Republicans win the House in November
We may not be able to defeat him for re-election but we should do whatever we can to ENSURE that he will NOT become Speaker of the House in January. The one good thing is that he doesn't command the same kind of gravitas and *stature* (not to mention charisma) as Newt Gingrich did back in 1994 but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't make sure that people understand who he is and what he stands for (like the Republicans did with Daschle).
