Big Ed was discussing this story and the cowardice displayed by the school superintendents.

The superintendents are putting the onus on the school teachers.

For a second straight year, President Obama will deliver a back to school address to U.S. students Tuesday.

Traverse City Public Schools say they will offer all students the opportunity to view it.

The White House says that the speech is an opportunity for the president to encourage students to study hard, stay in school and take responsibility for the education.

Traverse City Schools say they'll offer it to students as part of their role to teach core democratic principles, citizenship and respect for the office of the President.

Parents are welcome to view the broadcast with their children at school and call in advance to make arrangements.

However, if you do not want your children to view the broadcast, you can download a waiver of participation form at www.tcaps.net.

Those waivers must be returned or e-mailed to your child's school principal by the end of the day Monday.
