"In America, anyone can grow up to be president!"
How many of you heard a teacher or other adult tell you that when you were a child? I heard it several times, but then, I am older than dirt. Maybe the pre-fossil crowd isn't familiar with it, but the GOP and the MSM are apparently convinced that it is true.

My teachers meant that anyone, regardless of gender, religion, race or social station could aspire to lead our democratic nation. If you had quality ideas and courage, you could succeed in politics, my idealistic elders instructed us. But, that's not what this Teapublican party means by "anyone".

They mean "anyone"---as in no particular qualifications required. They mean if you have a pulse, can speak even sentence fragments or
"word salad" and you have absolutely no residual sense of shame, you too, can be considered a "serious presidential possibility".

Sarah Palin is a vacuous greedy twit. She is a manipulative and amoral hypocrite who, for good measure, can't ad lib an intelligible answer to toughies like "What do you read?" Every thinking person knows this is true.

If she could be president, truly, ANYONE could be president.

Newt Gingrich is a self-centered attention whore whose intellect has been totally consumed by his amorality: the man will do or say anything that might get him some attention because, jeez, it would be so cool to be president. This thrice-wed serial adulterer actually deigns to lecture us from time to time about morality.

If Newt could be president, ANYONE could be president.

John Bolton---did you hear what I said: JOHN BOLTON!---recently "refused to rule out" a run for the White House! The man apparently believes that one of the great mysteries of the world is how all OUR oil got stashed under "THEIR" land and he has all the warmth and charisma of a chancre, but, hey---we apparently have decided that ANYONE could be president.

The only serious question is who is willing to burn someone's holy book or otherwise profane their faith in order to get several day's worth of free publicity, speaking engagements and a book deal.

"As long as they spell my name right---!"

1. A friend of mine had a child a few years ago
and gave that child a ridiculously cartoonish name. I told my wife as soon as I heard the name, "that child can never be president".
