Elizabeth Warren pays another visit to White House
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/08/AR2010090807244.html

Elizabeth Warren slipped quietly into Washington on Tuesday to talk with President Obama about the possibility of leading the new Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection, according to people familiar with the meeting.

An administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the visit had not been publicized, acknowledged that Warren met with Obama but noted Wednesday that the president is still considering multiple candidates for the job.

Warren met about the position last month with top Obama advisers Valerie Jarrett and David Axelrod. She again fueled speculation last week when she pulled out of a law class she was scheduled to teach this fall at Harvard.

Warren had not been expected back in the nation's capital until later this month, when the Congressional Oversight Panel, which she chairs, will release its latest report on the government's $700 billion bailout fund.

2. I think they are going to give her something
I just hope it's not some meaningless, toothless "advisory" post.

3. Try as they may..
There is no better candidate for miles.

EW will straighten them out. Right now, they are putting the hard word on her and training her for the position. They are seeing if she will lower her standards to meet their expectations. Will she wheel and deal and agree to become another cog in the wheel that is bureaucracy? I hope not.

4. I take it as she's either on the "short list" or he had her back to
select and measure the drapes. Wouldn't it be wonderful if he announced her appointment tomorrow? Be a nice weekend gift..

5. There's only one reason to wait
If Obama is really going to nominate Warren to the post, then why wait? What does he gain by delaying things? I'll tell you what he gains. If he waits long enough, he gains a congress that is not overwhelmingly Democratic. He gives the Republicans a chance to make big gains in the mid-term elections. And all of this so he can appear to appease his liberal base, while simultaneously ensuring Warren will not get confirmed. It's a slick move. And it's disingenuous and underhanded.

Note to the President:
Mr. Obama, Stop bowing to your corporate overlords and do the right thing. Nominate Ms. Warren immediately.

6. Political Punch:Obama Meets With Elizabeth Warren
Miller ABC News' Sunlen Miller reports:
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2010/09/obama-meets-with-elizabeth-warren-.html

A White House official confirms that President Obama met with Elizabeth Warren at the White House on Tuesday, a top contender for heading the Consumer Financial Protection Board.

“Elizabeth Warren is a respected advocate and she was meeting at the White House Tuesday, but no decision has been made about the consumer agency,” White House spokeswoman Amy Brundage says of the possibility of Warren being named the head of the Consumer Financial Protection Board.

On August 12th Warren met at the White House with David Axelrod and Valerie Jarrett, but not with the president himself. While Warren did meet directly with President Obama this time, a White House official says that “multiple candidates” are still being considered for the job.

(snip)
On Tuesday White House press secretary Robert Gibbs would not rule out that an announcement for the Consumer Financial Protection Agency could come this week.
